1989 (#12) - The burden of responsibility and the tragic death of Phillip Jr

Despite the magnificence of the ceremony, the marriage between Nina and Phillip Jr. encounters more than one difficulty. First of all, there is the burden of responsibility of Phillip Jr who, still a boy, is called to a task of great maturity and sense of duty as that of being a parent. Then there are the constant family tensions that one breathes at home Chancellor, with Jill and Katherine arguing animatedly about what is best for Phillip Jr, about Chance's future and above all about the adequacy of Nina in her double role as Phillip Jr's wife and Chance's mother. Phillip Jr. himself also feels the lack of his carefree and blissful life with his friends, a condition that leads him into a kind of depression. The result is what Katherine had always feared, that Phillip Jr. could return to the alcohol business. The call of the bottle, in fact, seems impossible to curb for a fragile boy like Phillip Jr, who soon neglects himself and literally lets himself go despite Nina's prayers and love. When things slowly seem to settle down, with the promise of reconciliation between Nina and Jill, and between Jill and Katherine, with the commitment of all to focus on Phillip Jr. and little Chance, tragedy happens. Returning home after drinking too much at an office party, Phillip Jr. is tragically involved in a car accident. Taken to the hospital, Phillip Jr., who suffered serious injuries, remains alive long enough for Nina, Jill and Katherine to rush to the hospital to see him alive one last time. In the end, in fact, despite the efforts of doctors and in particular Dr. Wesley Larkin, Phillip Jr. dies from the desperation and dismay of all, especially Nina and two inconsolable Jill and Katherine, who do not rest for the tragic end of the boy, joined to his father Phillip, who also died in a car accident, by a mocking fate.

1989 (#5) - Esther's discharge, the job at Nina's and the night with Tiny

At the Chancellor house, things between Rex and Katherine couldn't be going well. The couple is serenely married and the two are more in love and close-knit than ever before; both with a tough and determined character, but also capable of having fun and luxury, are a couple that works in symbiosis. The only one who is not enthusiastic about the situation is the housekeeper, poor Esther, whose arrival of Rex has simply doubled the work. Busy with cleaning, housework and cooking, Esther doesn't have a moment to herself and is constantly forced to run to meet the demanding demands of Katherine and Rex, always hard and authoritarian with the woman. Moreover, Esther is also irritated by the fact that now Katherine, no longer being alone, no longer performs that important function of friend and confidant that on rare occasions had eased Esther's life. To notice the woman's condition is a regretful Nina, who tries to relieve her by encouraging her to date some man. When Nina then notices that Esther doesn't even have time for herself, let alone to let a man into her life, she proposes to go and work with her. Tired of being treated like a servant, and excited to live with Phillip Jr., whom she has been fond of since birth, Esther promises Nina that she will think about it. And so, at the umpteenth rude request of Katherine, an angry Esther decides to quit out of the blue, taking off the silly and ridiculous uniform that the woman forces her to wear under the astonished and dismayed eyes of Rex. At Nina's house, the woman is so happy to be able to hug Esther and welcome her in her new home: for Esther it is a real daydream! Moreover, the woman, at Nina's instigation, starts dating a few men. And so, after a brief flirt with the clumsy Miguel Rodriguez, the faithful chef of Victor's ranch, it is Tiny Goss, a rather gruff plumber, who wins Esther's heart. The two of them see each other only once, the time for Tiny to take Esther to bed; but it's enough to make the woman fall madly in love, and although Nina tries to make her understand that a man like Tiny is hardly the right one for her, she hopes to make herself heard by calling her back. However, just as Nina fears, the man will never show his face again.

1989 (#4) - The church run with Chase and the wedding between Nina and Phillip Jr.

After a few weeks, convulsed as never before, finally comes the long-awaited wedding day between Nina and Phillip Jr. The Chancellor estate is in great excitement for the event, with Katherine, Christine and Rex eager to finally see little Chance grow into a real family. The only one who is not at all happy about the upcoming wedding is therefore Jill, who absolutely does not want Nina, who never liked her, to become his son's wife. On the very day of the wedding, Chase, in agreement with Jill, tries to seduce Nina and prevent her from reaching the church; but the girl, aware that the guests are already gathering for her wedding, stops him and convinces the boy to take her to the church so as not to miss her wedding. Nina's vicissitudes to reach the church in time, however, are put to the test when Chase's car breaks down. Everything seems to go wrong for the unfortunate Nina, who now sees her dream of marrying the love of her life fade away, but in the end, thanks also to Chase's mechanic skills, Nina finally manages to get to the church, where an impatient Phillip Jr. is waiting for her, excited about the idea of marrying the woman. Even if late, therefore, in the end the ceremony takes place and two very young and radiant Nina and Phillip Jr declare their eternal love in front of a large and moved crowd of relatives and friends, all very happy, except obviously Jill, to see the heir of the great Chancellor empire marry the beautiful and in love Nina.

1989 (#2) - Nina's change of heart, Jill's opposition and Phillip Jr.'s proposal

In the Chancellor estate, meanwhile, the transformation of Nina by Katherine is now complete. The girl, thanks to the advice of two satisfied Christine and Katherine has assumed an enviable elegance and poise; it is time, at this point, to put the plan to the test by having the girl meet Phillip Jr. When the boy contacts Christine for a date, then, the girl makes sure to send Nina in his place, anxious to meet Phillip Jr and check the boy's reaction to her sight. After a difficult start, with Phillip Jr very annoyed by Christine's behavior, the couple spend a pleasant evening and the boy admits to finding Nina very different, definitely more attractive. And so the two of them, when Christine informs Phillip Jr that she sees no future for them, start dating. Nina's dream then becomes reality when, surprisingly, Phillip Jr asks her to marry him in order to unite their family and raise little Chance between the love of his parents. The news of the upcoming wedding makes both Katherine and Christine very happy, eager to help an excited Nina organize her fairytale wedding. Less enthusiastic about the situation is Jill, who has never appreciated Nina and who encourages Chase to make another attempt with her. The boy, who has put aside his ambitions towards Christine, completely devoted to Danny, decides to play his cards close to his heart to try to break off the wedding, despite all his attempts are in vain.

1988 (#31) - Clint's room for rent and flirting with Gina

At the end of the year, the sentimental situation of the new generation of protagonists in Genoa City was at least tangled. On the one hand there is Nina, with her son Chance, who hopes to reunite her family with Phillip Jr., a reunification desired by Katherine and Christine herself. Christine, who in reality is none other than the object of Phillip Jr.'s own desire, but who in reality appears uncertain whether to resume her story with Danny or dive into the arms of the unknown but charming young Chase. Throughout this situation, Rex and Katherine are obviously concerned about the situation of Phillip Jr., who finds himself in love with a woman who pushes him into the arms of the mother of his son. Katherine's fear, in particular, is that the boy may start drinking again, an addiction that is always around the corner as the boy never completely overcomes his vice. Meanwhile, the relationship between Rex and his sons, Danny and Gina is getting stronger and stronger. Danny is happy that his father has found serenity with Katherine, and at the same time Rex is confident that Christine may decide to return with him. Rex is also intrigued by Gina's love life, a very independent woman who devotes all her days to running her restaurant and hotel. Gina confirms her suspicions to her father: she is having a flirt with a man; however, she decides not to reveal her identity, since her own, for now, is a simple flirt. Surely, Rex would not be happy about this if he knew that the man in question is Clint Radison, a former cellmate of his. Clint, who shows an unsettling look many times, has in fact rented a room at Gina's motel and spends much of his time with the woman, who seems to like the presence of the man in his life.

1988 (#28) - The face-off between Jack and Jill, David's intentions, Chase's ambitions

Jack's takeover of the Jabot gives a strong jolt to the whole company. After Brittany's investigation on his behalf has been shelved, the boy finally wants to prove to his father that he has become a man and has matured to the point of deserving a position of leadership, to the point of making him proud of him. It is in this context that Jill, much more controlled than the previous management, has to deal with two parallel events that, although part of her non-working life, intertwine with it. The first story is the one concerning Jill's love life after the failed attempt to conquer Rex. From this point of view, there is a resumption of the relationship between Jill and David, a relationship seen in a bad eye by Jack, worried that David's intentions are directed more to Jabot than to the woman's love. And although Jill tells Jack not to meddle in his private life, it must be said that the man is not wrong at all. David, in fact, is much more greedy and double-crossed than before; and not at all intent on falling in love with Jill, to whom he has never forgiven the fact that he was so easily dumped, David is still lying about having feelings for the woman just to get into her good graces and get a Jabot job that Jack has no intention of giving him. Another issue that divides Jill from Jack is that of Chase. If in fact before, the boy was well seen by Brad, now Jack is much more suspicious of him. Then failed his deal with Jill to seduce Nina, the boy's role within the company has been greatly reduced. And despite Jill's incitement and exhortation not to abandon the idea of conquering Nina, his interest soon turned to Christine, who was left alone after the breakup with Philipp Jr. There are many obstacles to achieving her goal; in fact, on the one hand Jill invites him not to date the woman she believes is destined for her son Philipp, and on the other hand there is a Danny who openly intends to win back the girl's heart.

1988 (#23) - The breakup with Chase and Katherine's rethinking of Nina

A few weeks after the agreement between Jill and Chase, the woman's plan to get her son away from Nina seems to be working. After the umpteenth confirmation that Phillip Jr.'s interest is only in winning back Christine, in fact, Nina is tempted by Chase's proposal to leave for Los Angeles and leave the child alone for a few days with his babysitter Erika Finley. All as planned by Jill, who intends to sue the girl for child abandonment. Nina, a caring mother as she is, does not fall into Jill's trap, however, and after thinking about it, she refuses the proposal. This episode particularly strikes Katherine, who is convinced that this whole affair cannot but be the work of a manipulator like Jill. Katherine then, Jill's bitter enemy, begins to feel a certain sympathy for Nina, also convinced by Rex of the genuineness of feelings, spontaneity and simplicity of the girl. It is Katherine, then, who goes to apologize to Nina for all the obstacles so far placed against her; the woman then reveals to Nina that certainly the whole Chase affair is Jill's work, as confirmed by the fact that Chase works side by side with the woman. Nina, then, decides to immediately end all relations with the boy and, extremely disappointed by Jill, informs her that she cannot forbid her in any way to pursue her aims. Aims that at this moment translate into getting the attention of Phillip Jr, who is still interested in the beautiful Christine. Nina and Katherine, however, strengthen their friendship and Katherine promises her that she will help her to conquer Phillip Jr, also because it is their task to raise little Chance, the last descendant of the Chancellors. Helped also by Rex and the reformed couple Christine and Danny, who are starting to reappear and who apparently both have an interest in Phillip Jr. starting to take an interest in Nina, Katherine thus begins to transform the simpleton Nina into a refined classy woman capable of dressing, putting on makeup, talking and entertaining, thus making her the kind of woman Phillip Jr. can fall in love with.

1988 (#20) - Jessica's return and reconciliation with Christine

The reason Christine decided to leave Phillip Jr. behind sinks into her past; having been abandoned by her parents, she doesn't want little Chance to suffer her own sad childhood and so she asks Nina and Phillip Jr to raise their son with love. After many years of separation from her daughter, Jessica Blair, Christine's mother, returns to the city. For Christine, still hurt by the painful separation with Phillip Jr, this is probably the last thing she would have wanted. Christine, in fact, never had a good relationship with her mother, who after all never took care of her daughter, who grew up with her cousin Joe and their grandmother, Clara Herbert, until her death. Christine blames Jessica for abandoning her and never taking care of her; Jessica asks her daughter for forgiveness and hopes that they will reconcile so that she can make up for all her mistakes. Katherine, a long-time friend of Jessica's, offers a place to stay to Jessica, who gladly accepts the hospitality of the woman to whom she confesses to be seriously ill and who probably has only a few months left to live with AIDS, which is why she intends to have the affection of her daughter by her side, knowing that she cannot leave without having received her forgiveness. In one of the countless discussions between Christine and Jessica, the latter reveals to her daughter that her father died in Vietnam before she was born, but Christine, after her mother's countless lies, appears skeptical in believing this story; helped by Paul in comparing Jessica's version with her birth certificate, Christine understands that Jessica's story does not stand up and in the end Jessica admits that the girl was conceived in a night of passion with a boy whose name she does not even know. Christine is not surprised by this, and resigns herself to not even knowing who her father is, finally trying to empathize with her mother, who became pregnant when she was young with no prospects for the future and no one to lean on to raise her. Jessica is very happy when Christine agrees to try to forgive her, even though she knows that no one will give her back the years she lived without the support of a mother.

1988 (#17) - The break between Christine and Phillip Jr, the agreement of Jill and Chase

The birth of little Chance, as feared by Jill and Katherine, has inevitably radically transformed Phillip Jr.'s life, from his school commitment to his life with his friends to his relationship with Christine. The woman, who, as said, had the maturity and patience to stand aside in the first days of Chance's life, to give Phillip Jr. a chance to get used to his new condition as a father, is now beginning to suffer from the situation. Phillip Jr. and Nina are willing or not always very close and present in Chance's life, which obviously takes a lot of the time that Phillip Jr. used to dedicate to Christine, who feels more and more neglected and suffering from the situation. Of all this, taken by the thousands of commitments that the situation requires, he does not realize Phillip Jr, who in spite of everything is still so in love with Christine that he intends to propose to her. It is precisely by talking about their future, this discussion undertaken by Phillip Jr. to propose to her, that Christine takes the leap to confess to Phillip Jr. that she no longer wants to be put on the sidelines and that, evidently, the right place for Phillip Jr., at this time, is not with her but with Nina. Phillip Jr. is shocked by Christine's sentences, but she insists that it is time to do the right thing and take responsibility and so, while confessing that she loves him, leaves him wishing her all the luck in the world with Nina and their son. The news of the break-up doesn't just make Phillip Jr despair, but obviously Jill too, who decides that the time has come to act to get Phillip Jr away from Nina's heart before it's too late. Thanks to her corporate position at Jabot, then, Jill gets to know the handsome Chase Benson model, to whom she promises a quick climb inside the company as long as he seduces the beautiful Nina and distracts her from Phillip Jr. Chase, enticed by Jill's proposal, thus begins to seduce her.

1988 (#11) - The birth of Chance, the offer of Jill and Katherine and the rejection of Nina

Right during the wedding ceremony between Katrherine and Rex, shortly before the guests start to leave, Nina begins to complain excruciating abdominal pain. Soon, everyone realizes that the woman has broken the waters, although Nina continues to claim desperately that it is still too early, being only eight months pregnant. Nina's fear of losing the baby becomes very real when nurse Deborah Ecckles informs the woman that the doctors suspect that there is internal bleeding due to the rupture of the placenta and that they will have to perform an emergency caesarean section. Fortunately, the operation goes well; the baby is born healthy, while Nina's initially critical condition soon improves. As soon as Nina wakes up, Phillip Jr enters her room with the baby in his hand; a splendid family picture is formed between them, and the couple decides to name the baby Phillip IV Chancellor, commonly called Chance. Jill, still hoping to prove that the child is not Phillip Jr.'s son, proposes to carry out a paternity test, but the result is positive: Phillip Jr is actually Chance's father. Nina confesses to Phillip Jr. that Chance has given her the will to live and the happiness of a future perspective; it is Phillip himself, however, who reminds the woman of his commitment to Christine, who in a very mature way is giving her boyfriend time to get used to the new condition. Jill is happy to hear from Phillip Jr. that he intends to confirm his relationship with Christine, but for once he agrees with Katherine, who jokingly calls her grandmother, of the need to permanently remove Nina from Phillip Jr.'s life. The two women, therefore, offer Nina the considerable sum of $1 million to leave Genoa City with Chance; a sum that would allow her to raise the child with the best care and comfort. Nina, however, reluctantly rejects the offer, stating that her future is not for sale; and while she is aware that Phillip Jr. currently has a relationship with Christine, she has no intention of giving up her dreams, believing she hopes for her future with Phillip Jr.

1988 (#4) - Nina's impatient awaiting and Katherine's forced hospitality

Still incredulous that she is expecting a child even from a Chancellor, Nina is over the moon. In love like never before, Nina is already daydreaming of a future with Phillip Jr. at Katherine's estate, a prospect that doesn’t make her resist the temptation to visit Katherine's villa with an excuse, posing as a surveyor. Katherine, immediately suspicious of the girl, ends up realizing that Nina is one of many girls who aspire to become Phillip Jr.'s girlfriend exclusively because of his name. Determined not to have to deal with gold diggers, therefore, Katherine abruptly chases the girl away. Nina, however, does not delay in returning to Katherine, this time with with her hand on her heart. Nina this time opens herself completely to the woman, confessing that she is expecting a child from Phillip Jr. and that she has no place to stay. Katherine, then, decides to host Nina in the attic of her house while she awaits the birth of the child; but more than a hospitality, it is, in fact, a prison, since Katherine intimates Nina that she cannot see or see Phillip and that she can also forget him since she will never be a Chancellor. Katherine's forced hospitality goes on for days, until Nina hears Phillip Jr.'s voice from the attic, who is present at Katherine's house along with Jill and Rex. Nina, then, manages to open the hatch in the attic and come down to run to Phillip, completely incredulous to see her there. When Nina informs everyone present of the pregnancy, Phillip Jr. and Jill are upset. But the reactions are the opposite. Phillip Jr. is furious with Katherine for acting so villainously, absolutely not accepting Katherine's justifications, which assures Phillip that his attention was all focused on the baby and her health; at the same time, Phillip is excited and enthusiastic about the idea of becoming a father, which makes Nina full of joy. With completely opposite feelings Jill reacts instead, worried about Nina's pregnancy both because she has no sympathy for the woman and because she believes that Phillip is still too young to become a father, believing that he is better off with a classy woman like Christine than with a simpleton like Nina. In any case, Jill decides to act alone to get rid of Nina, and hires Paul to locate and track down all of Nina's men in the last period, so that she can prove that the child is not Phillip's. The search, however, unfortunately for Jill has a negative result, and the only boys identified, Jason Monroe and Gary Roberts, have had a flirt with Nina, but there was no sexual intercourse between them.

1987 (#27) - Christine's indecision, Nina's pregnancy and the choice of Phillip Jr

A few weeks after the episode that led Jill and Katherine to ask Phillip Jr. to start attending AA, things don't seem to be going so well for the boy. The sessions, in fact, have little influence on the boy, who instead is constantly transported by the ups and downs in his relationship with Christine, undecided between him and Danny. In the meantime, he orders Phillips Jr. to forget about the girl, informing him that he and Christine will soon marry. Upset by Danny's plan to ask for Christine's hand in marriage, Phillip Jr. decides to run for cover immediately, anticipating the boy and surprisingly asking Christine to marry him. However, the girl, caught completely off guard, asks Phillip Jr. for time and is surprised when she receives a similar proposal from Danny the same evening, who in turn receives the same answer. Disappointed by Christine's answer, and convinced that the girl will never choose him and that right now she is accepting Danny's proposal, Phillip Jr. finds himself alone at the Rendezvous drinking. Next to him, there is a thoughtful and sad Nina, who cannot forget the loss of her son and dreams of a new pregnancy. Nina and Phillip Jr thus make their acquaintance, and Phillip Jr immediately proves that he has already exceeded the limit of alcohol capable of keeping him sober. Nina then decides to take advantage of the handsome young man, also a Chancellor, to seduce him and get him drunk until a night of passion with him. The next day, realizing the trouble, Phillip Jr. begs Nina not to say anything to Christine; hope, however, is in vain, since the girl does not take long to spread the word. Christine, still undecided who to choose between Danny and Phillip Jr. and which proposal to accept, when she receives news from Nina that Phillip Jr. has spent the night with her, is furious and very disappointed. Determined to marry Danny, Christine suffers more than she thought because of Phillip Jr.'s betrayal, and it is this, in the end, that makes her realize that it is actually Phillip Jr. who loves, and not Danny. So Christine decides to break off her relationship with Danny and officially get engaged to Phillip Jr., who is overjoyed. Neither of them, however, suspects anything of what is happening to an ecstatic Nina, who discovers she is pregnant with him.

1987 (#21) - The feelings for Christine, the shyness and the alcoholism of Phillip Jr

As the days passed at the Chancellor's estate, Christine increased her relationship and friendship with Phyllip Jr, opening herself completely to the boy. Christine, of course, also ends up telling him that her sparkling story with Danny isn't actually as happy as it might seem. Beyond the brief and innocent flirtation with Nina, which Christine easily puts aside, both the fragility of the girl in this period and the prompt reaction of Danny, who has always said that he is nothing more than a simple confidant for the girl, in fact, the relationship between the two is repeatedly questioned because of the increasing number of Danny's musical commitments, which due to frequent tours ends up neglecting Christine more and more. Phillip Jr, then, begins to cultivate new hopes for the girl; but despite this, Phillip Jr feels he needs to take courage and decides, to do so, to rely on the most wrong thing he can do, which is to drink. Soon Jill realizes that Phillip Jr. is starting to have a problem with alcohol and obviously accuses Katherine, who is responsible for raising the boy in the worst way. Christine, meanwhile, unaware of Phillip Jr.'s problem, gets closer and closer to Jill's son, which annoys Danny a lot. When he confronts Phillip Jr., telling him to stay away from his girlfriend, Phillip Jr., scared, decides to get carried away by alcohol and get drunk. Christine finds the boy almost unconscious and immediately takes him to the emergency room. Immediately alerted both Jill and Katherine, the two women rush to the emergency room and, together with Christine, convince the boy to go to Alcoholics Anonymous..

1987 (#16) - Phillip Jr's life in Genoa City, friendship and crush on Christine

Having moved into Katherine's house, Phillip Jr. began to live the life he had always dreamed about. The boy begins to attend the University of Genoa City and spend evenings with his friends in the most famous clubs in the city. Although Katherine is now part of his life, Jill tries in every way not to neglect her son and to be seen there for Phillip Jr, who spends a lot of time with his mother, even at Jabot. It is here, during a photo shoot, that Phillip Jr. meets the beautiful and charming Christine. Jill immediately notices the boy's interest in the model and urges him to make a move on her, but Phillip Jr's enthusiasm is soon dampened when he learns that Christine is the girlfriend of famous rock star Danny. Shy, awkward with the girls and certainly without great self-confidence, Phillip Jr gets depressed convinced that he'll never get Christine to notice him. It's just when he's lost all hope, though, that Christine sits next to him and they start talking. Phillip Jr. finds out that Christine isn't the usual full-figured girl as self-righteous and snobby as it might seem, but instead is a sweet girl and capable of listening. Impossible for the boy not to fall in love with her!

1987 (#9) - The legal battle between Jill and Katherine over custody of Phillip Jr.

Returning to Genoa City after being called back by Katherine to donate blood to Jill, who was injured after Sven's attack, Phillip Jr certainly does not show great attachment to his mother. Katherine accuses Jill of raising Phillip Jr. in the worst possible way, moving from one bed to another on the pretext of creating a family around him. The only consequence of this behavior is that he felt neglected and little loved., who suffered from his mother's absences and who, as soon as he could, decided to leave Genoa City to go and study away from Jill. Back in the city, however, Katherine has no intention of making him leave again and informs the boy, despite her resistance, that she has already enrolled him at the University of Genoa City. Phillip protests against the move, but both Katherine and Jill try to make him understand the importance of growing up with his family. Meanwhile, Katherine is considering removing custody of the boy from Jill, who has shown herself unable as a mother to raise her son, and adopting Phillip Jr. herself, who is after all her late husband's son. Thus begins a long legal and trial battle for custody of the boy, a battle that obviously involves Jill and Katherine, represented by Michael Crawford and Mitchell Sherman respectively, who in a whirlwind of accusations and counter-accusations fight for the boy's love. The latter is thus involved in a rivalry that goes beyond the dispute itself and is rooted in the historic war between the two women, who blame themselves for all the events and their misfortunes of recent years, starting from the accident that caused Phillip's life to be lost and Katherine's lawsuit that led to the annulment of the marriage between Jill and Phillip. This very episode, according to Katherine, is the woman's only mistake, which prevented Phillip Jr. from obtaining the surname Chancellor and thus aspiring to inherit the entire family fortune. Katherine thus announces her willingness to adopt the boy to take his father's surname and make him the legitimate heir to her fortune. Forced to attend all the court proceedings and endless court hearings, Phillip Jr. finds himself more confused than ever, not knowing who to agree with between Katherine and Jill. The boy obviously feels more connected to Jill, but Katherine's reasons are in part felt to be true by the boy, who shows a certain connection with the woman, also lured by the economic prospects that the surname Chancellor could guarantee him. In any case, Phillip Jr promises both of them that he will never turn his face to them, whatever the outcome of the trial, since the two women are an active part of his family and have the feeling that guilt and reason must obviously be split down the middle. The judge's verdict, as expected, does not give either of them a complete victory. In fact, Katherine's application for adoption is rejected, Jill being Phillip Jr.'s mother, but nevertheless grants temporary custody to the woman, who thus has the opportunity to raise the boy in her estate, considered as the most suitable home for his needs. Katherine also receives the court's approval to change his surname to Phillip Jr.'s Chancellor, who thus officially becomes an heir to the entire estate.

1986 (#24) - Phillip Jr.'s blood donation and Jack's indictment

While Carl and Salena are busy investigating who shot Jill, she continues to struggle between life and death with Michael at her side praying for her. Informed by Dr. Joseph Lerner that Jill needs a blood donor as soon as possible, Katherine decides to bring Jill's son, Phillip Jr., back to Genoa City so he can stand by his mother and give blood. To the amazement of Katherine and Michael, however, the boy is very angry with his mother and quite upset, refusing to donate blood and confessing that he does not care about Jill, and whether or not she will survive. Katherine, certainly not Jill's best friend, convinces Phillip Jr. to do the right thing, but at the same time she is very worried about how little Phillip Jr. grew up, who has obviously suffered a lot from Jill's absence, who has always been much more committed to getting money and power by moving from one bed to another, rather than raising and educating her son. In any case, Carl's investigation to find the culprit continues and the policeman has four major suspects, all people who may have a grudge against Jill in some way. The first of these is John, who is still suffering from the recent divorce; Katherine, Jill's sworn enemy; and Jack, who believes that his life has been ruined by the woman; finally, some leads also lead to Christian Letiaff, the French chemist who worked for Jill for the Men's Line and who, evidently, hasn't paid yet. The turning point happens when the results of the analysis of the gun arrive, which clearly show Jack's fingerprints. He is thus charged with attempted murder and arrested, making John's incredulity towards his son, who he can no longer recognize or look at his face.

1979 (#3) - Stuart's afterthought and Jill's failed attempt with Derek

As time goes by, Stuart and Jill begin planning their wedding, an event that Stuart would now like to accelerate and celebrate before anyone can begin to suspect Jill's pregnancy, wanting to let everyone know that they are expecting a child from the woman only after the wedding. Despite Stuart's firm intention to get married, however, a sense of repentance and melancholy soon began to grow in him, realizing that he had only agreed to marry Jill because of her pregnancy; beyond the physical attraction to the woman, in fact, Stuart begins to understand that the difference in age between the two is all too evident and that only a woman like Liz could have made him happy, realizing that he was still in love with Liz herself, but now he was trying to forget him and play the difficult role of mother of the bride. In the meantime, it was Jill herself who began to feel guilty of having faked pregnancy. Feelings for Stuart, in fact, soon fade away and the only reason to continue this performance continues to be the desire to guarantee a comfortable future for little Phillip Jr. Jill can't deny, however, that she still has feelings for Derek, who promises Jill to get rid of his marriage to Katherine to be with her. Just the night before the wedding, Jill contacts Derek for a meeting and asks him for a warranty that he will marry her. At the meeting, however, Derek never shows up, having been called back by Suzanne to her family duties to look after little Jamie. Jill, once again disappointed by Derek, and realizing how foolish she was to think she could immediately break her current relationship, decides to put aside all her dreams with the man to focus on Stuart and Phillip. Derek's absence, of course, was orchestrated by Katherine who, unable to move, intervened to create a family emergency by making Derek's ex-wife look for him so that she couldn't meet her bitter rival Jill. A furious Derek, forced to make his beloved Jill suffer once again and leave the city at such an important time, will never know that his wife Katherine was the architect of all this.

1977 (#11) - Liz's memory and David's unrequited love for Jill

When Snapper returns home, everyone welcomes Snapper with open arms. Liz has regained her memory for some time now and, although she wanted to confess everything to exonerate her son, he had firmly refused. In the end, everything worked out for the best, and finally the whole Family can return to live with joy in the memory of their father, putting all the tribulations of the last months behind them. During this time, David was welcomed by all the members of the family, happy to have a beneficiary of Bill's generosity near them. 1976 (#15) - Biological will and the deterioration of Bill’s disease

The joy in the Foster house that there was in recent times is soon destined to disappear. When the hospital treatment for Bill's cancer becomes too expensive, the man decides to stop insisting on medicines and at the same time to stop smoking, not hiding the intention, at his death, to donate his organs. Taken to the hospital, Bill then draws up a living will in which he expresses his will, in addition to donating organs, not to be resuscitated in the event of a respiratory crisis; he therefore orders the doctors not to want any therapeutic treatment on him. In addition, Bill writes a letter of gratitude to Katherine, for paying his medical expenses, to be delivered to her after his death; he also writes a series of letters to give to Phillip Jr. at each of his birthdays until he turns twenty-one. Just when Bill thinks he could have gone home for the last time, the man suffers a severe relapse due to a pulmonary emphysema that causes him a severe respiratory crisis.

1976 (#12) - Brock’s advices, support to Liz and conciliation between Jill and Katherine

Put aside her judicial struggles, and after Jill's attempt at revenge, Katherine goes back to drinking again. Brock, the eternal optimist, tries to convince her mother to do something good with her life, for example by helping Fosters themselves, who are in difficult financial situations. Jill, meanwhile, is willing to pledge her jewels in an attempt to allow her parents to go to Arizona, where the climate is better, to allow Bill to fight emphysema. However, Bill is firmly opposed, confirming his willingness not to fight against his disease but only to live with them all the last days he has left. Brock seems to have convinced Katherine to help the Fosters, at least for Phillip Jr. and her late husband, when in the meantime it is Liz herself who comes to Katherine to beg her to be hired as her housekeeper. Katherine, still deeply wounded in her pride, thus accepts the woman's heartfelt request and decides to arrange a meeting with Jill to smooth things over between the two. Katherine thus decides to give up little Phillip, to Jill's delight. Thanks also to Brock's words, Katherine agrees to help the Fosters by paying for Bill's medical and hospital expenses. The reconciliation between the Fosters and Katherine, moreover, is further strengthened when Katherine, convinced by Brock, Liz and Bill, decides to donate some funds to a center for the elderly where Liz, Bill and Brock work as volunteers. Everyone is moved to be able to help these poor people and their community center.
