1994 (#16) - Flo's reticence about Nina's paternity and vain hopes about Jed

Having overcome the pain of the miscarriage thanks to the unconditional love of Ryan, with whom she lives a happy and peaceful married life, Nina soon realizes that she feels a great void in her life due to the lack of a father figure. The woman, therefore, returns to insistently ask her mother for information about her father, more determined than ever to search for the man. Flo, however, besides being as reluctant as ever to talk about him, admits once again that she has no idea who the man with whom she conceived her daughter might be, since she was a prostitute at the time. However, under Nina's constant pressure, she admits that she has well-founded suspicions about a man, whose name she does not remember, who had an obvious scar on his neck. This detail immediately comes back to Nina's mind when she comes across a building contractor named Jed Sanders, who, in addition to being of an age compatible with Flo's description, has an obvious scar on his neck. A hopeful Nina, thus, confesses to Ryan her hopes that her search is finally over and that Jed may be her father. Without informing either her mother or the man of her convictions, Nina organizes a family lunch to which she also invites Jed. Nina asks her mother, who is convinced that her daughter is tired of being alone and wants to find him a man to live with, if Jed is her father; however, Nina's hopes are dashed when Flo admits that she has never met Jed before and that he is definitely not her father, having a scar on the wrong side of his neck. It is Ryan, thus, who consoles Nina, trying to distract her from her frantic search for a father she will probably never meet.

1994 (#14) - The pain of the abortion and the wedding between Ryan and Nina

Deeply shaken by the news that he is going to become a father, Ryan is going through a great moment of confusion and uncertainty about his life, what he really wants and the decision he has to make. On the one hand there is Victoria, his temptation and perhaps his one great love, but she is now a married woman; on the other hand there is Nina, the great affection and the duty of responsibility towards what is about to become his family. In the end, after a few days of reflection, Ryan makes his decision and decides to take Nina to the altar who, at the moment of the proposal, accepts enthusiastically with great joy. However, Nina cannot forget and ignore the reality of the facts, that Ryan does not love her at all compared to how much she loves him. The woman thus thanks the man admitting that she knows the situation of his real feelings, and that she will do anything to make him fall in love with her. Nina's good intentions and optimism, however, collapse when, after fainting, Dr. Deborah Heming informs her that she has been forced into a miscarriage. Nina is desperate and inconsolable; around her are her mother Flo and Ryan himself, to whom Nina confesses that she considers him free to leave and get out of her life, not wanting to keep him prisoner in a relationship he doesn't feel. Ryan, however, from this episode discovered emotions and feelings he had never felt before, realizing that he truly loves Nina. Dispelling the woman's fears of losing him, Ryan confirms his desire to marry Nina and create a family together around little Chance. Soon, the two get married declaring their love for each other to the happiness of all the guests and, in particular, of Nina's mother, Flo.

1994 (#12) - Ryan's remorse for Victoria and Nina's pregnancy

With the distance created by their misunderstandings and the latter's decision to pose nude, Cole and Victoria the two begin to distance themselves more and more. In fact, Cole continues to dedicate long hours to the writing of his new novel, while Victoria turns her gaze back to Ryan. The latter, who has been living with Nina for some time now, seems to have almost regretted the decision, feeling as if imprisoned in a situation he didn't want, and with responsibilities, Chance first of all, that he never really accepted to take on. This explains Ryan's happiness in reestablishing an initial relationship, albeit one of friendship, with Victoria. The two of them spend a lot of time together, especially remembering their happiest moments; and all this under the sad and disappointed eyes of Nina, who on one hand doesn't have much time to dedicate to Ryan because of the completion of her studies, and on the other hand, has always known that she, for Ryan, was a second choice. Determined to leave Ryan free to make a decision about their future, and with him now almost convinced to stop living with Nina to try to win back Victoria, to upset the plans of all is, as always, the fate. Nina, in fact, learns to her great surprise and joy to be pregnant and, therefore, to expect a child by Ryan. The news completely upsets the boy's prospects and he decides to sever his relationship with Victoria, who reconciles with Cole, and to dedicate himself exclusively to Nina and the baby.

1993 (#24) - Chance's needs and the coexistence between Ryan and Nina

With the divorce between Ryan and Victoria officially finalized, Nina is finally free to come out of the closet and express her feelings towards the man. On the other hand, no one accuses her of being a family wrecker, the marriage between Ryan and Victoria being considered by everyone as a mistake, especially by Victor, happy to have Ryan out of his daughter's life. The relationship between Ryan and Nina, however, does not develop and evolve as Nina had hoped. Ryan, in fact, does not seem at all interested in re-engaging with a woman and starting a serious relationship; nor does he have the slightest intention of diving back into a new marriage as Nina had hoped. Nina is disappointed when Ryan confesses to her that, although he feels a great attraction towards her, he is not yet ready to commit himself; and so, Nina begins to think that she has made a big mistake in thinking that Ryan could be the right man with whom to start a new life and raise little Chance. Particularly worried about Nina's condition, forced to raise a child on her own who would have a great need for a father figure, is Jill who would welcome a possible marriage with Ryan. The woman promises Nina all her support to convince Ryan to get closer to the woman; and thanks to Jill's convincing methods, the man, who has feelings for Nina, finally agrees to give her a try at married life, proposing to the woman a cohabitation to be considered as a sort of experiment. Nina happily accepts this sort of challenge, confident that she can convince Ryan to marry her soon. As time goes by, the feeling between Nina and Ryan grows much more than a simple physical attraction, and the two end up falling in love more and more under the satisfied eyes of Jill, happy to notice Ryan's excellent qualities as Chance's father, with whom she becomes very attached and establishes a more and more solid relationship.

1993 (#6) - Victoria's homecoming and Nikki's accidental abortion

When Victoria's suspicions about Ryan's cheating with Nina turn into certainty, with Ryan himself confessing the truth to Victoria as he can't live with the weight of guilt, she realizes that it's really over between her and Ryan. Despite the man's justifications, who vents all his frustration at never being able to satisfy his sexual needs with his wife, Victoria decides to Victor's delight to end her cohabitation with her husband and return to live on the ranch with her father while waiting for the divorce to be finalized. As soon as she returns home, a very sad Victoria decides to lock herself in her room, not wanting to hear or talk to anyone, especially her father. In the meantime the father, downstairs, expresses to Nikki all his joy and satisfaction for the end of Victoria and Ryan's cohabitation; and when Nikki suggests to Victor not to interfere with his daughter's problems and to give her the chance to be alone to metabolize what happened, the man doesn't seem to listen to her and rushes upstairs to console her. In an attempt to prevent Victor from going upstairs, Nikki slips on the stairs and falls to the ground. Admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pains, Dr. Laura Snyder is forced to inform two desperate Jack and Nikki that the baby in the woman's womb has died. Nikki is inconsolable for having lost Jack's baby for the second time, who between tears gives consent to the doctors to donate the organs of their prematurely deceased son. Seeing Jack holding in his arms in a heartbreaking moment the child whose life was saved thanks to the heart transplant donated from their fetus, Nikki is moved and, at the same time, despairing. Victor goes to Nikki's hospital to offer her comfort. Nikki neither blames nor accuses him for what has happened; however, she coldly informs him that she is more and more convinced that she has every intention of building a life with Jack, having realized that Victor will never be a part of her life again. Nikki, however, fearing yet another fight and diatribe between the two, reassures Victor that she will not tell Jack about her role in the accident that led to her abortion.

1993 (#3) - Marital problems between Ryan and Victoria and betrayals with Nina

Under pressure from Ryan, who is fed up with living away from his wife, Victoria resolves to confess the truth to her father Victor about her marriage. Upon hearing the news, Victor and Nikki are incredulous and shocked to learn that their daughter married Ryan. Victor, in particular, is absolutely furious with his daughter for doing such a thing and intimates that the two boys should dissolve their union immediately. However, when Ryan and Victoria say they love each other and have no intention of separating or hiding their feelings anymore, Victor decides to go to court to have their marriage annulled, Victoria being still a minor. Victor's young daughter, however, proves to have a strong character just like her father when she informs the man that she has no intention of leaving Ryan and that if she continues with her attempt in court she will be forced to flee. Victor then decides to withdraw his request, but does not give up on reaching his goal by offering Ryan a large sum of money, namely $500,000, to leave town for good. Every attempt to distance the two, however, seems futile and so, also on Nikki's suggestion, Victor decides not to hinder the marriage any longer, convinced that the two are not made for each other and that they will soon realize it. And, in fact, time proves Victor right. After the initial euphoria following their cohabitation, the problems and difficulties of married life soon begin to emerge. In particular, the tensions between the two arise once again from the fact that Victoria does not feel ready to have a full sexual relationship, which causes much frustration in Ryan. Noticing these problems is once again Nina who, still determined to get the man, leaves behind her relationship with Brandon, seduces him and makes love to him. Ryan's betrayals with Nina soon begin to become more and more frequent, and it is Victoria herself who realizes that her marriage, just begun, is already in crisis.

1992 (#30) - Victoria's therapies and the unresolved conflict between Nina and Flo

The marriage between Victoria and Ryan, meanwhile, creates much more problems than the girl would have ever suspected. On the one hand there is Ryan who would like to finally consummate the marriage and make love to the girl, but he doesn't feel ready yet; on the other hand there is Victor, still in the dark about what happened between Victoria and Ryan, who presses more and more to prevent his daughter from meeting the boy. Feeling that she can't make her husband happy, and afraid that at any moment he might leave her to go back to Nina, Victoria confesses to Ryan that she doesn't want to keep him imprisoned in a marriage he doesn't want and informs him that, if he wants, he is free to go back to Nina. Ryan, however, proving once again to be in love with the girl, confirms his love for her and is willing to wait. Victoria, overjoyed, promises Ryan to start following a therapy with a sexologist, so that he can help to unblock himself. Victor, meanwhile, putting aside his plan to introduce Brandon to Victoria, is increasingly worried about his daughter, especially when he discovers that she is undergoing therapy with a sexologist. The news also alarms Nikki, who finds herself in agreement with Victor about the need to get Ryan out of Victoria's life as soon as possible. Nina, meanwhile, seems to have resigned herself to having lost Ryan. The woman, who has stopped seeing Brandon, is experiencing a moment of strong emotional instability that leads her to dig deep into her problems, and this inner search leads her to realize that, unlike Victoria, she has never had a strong father figure who is able to guide her; moreover, she has never known her real father. Determined to find out more about her past, Nina turns to Paul to investigate the identity of her father. The search, however, does not bring any results, since Flo herself admits that she does not know who Nina's father is, confessing that she got pregnant by one of her many clients. Between Nina and Flo, then, emerges a great conflict never faced and resolved concerning the mother's job as a prostitute; a job that has not allowed the girl to grow up in a normal family. Flo asks her daughter's forgiveness for all her shortcomings, and in the end the girl resigns herself to the idea that she will probably never know her father, clinging around the only thing she has left, her mother, and promising not to make Flo's mistakes. Nina, thus, promises herself that Chance will be luckier than her, wanting at all costs to give him the chance to grow up with a father in a normal and loving family.

1992 (#23) - Brandon's attempts, comfort with Nina, and Jill's flirtation with Victor

Back from her weekend with Ryan, Victoria is forced to admit to her father that she didn't go out of town with Brandon, but with Ryan. Victor, who has already been informed by the boy that he has never seen his daughter in Chicago, but doesn't suspect in the slightest that Victoria has married Ryan, becomes enraged and literally spins out of control, ordering his daughter to stop hanging out with that no-good Ryan. Victoria adamantly refuses to listen to her father, refusing to let him know that she has in fact already married him. Not at all willing to give up on driving the two apart, Victor convinces Brandon to seduce the girl with the prospect of a job at Newmans Enterprise. However, in spite of his numerous attempts, Victoria doesn't seem interested in approaching him at all, finally confessing to him that she has even become Ryan's wife. Brandon, who could not imagine to be in the middle of such a situation, is forced to give up his attempt at conquest, ending up consoling himself, in a night full of passion, with Nina herself, still distraught for the breakup with Ryan. And it is this sudden break-up that leaves Jill speechless, who not even a few days before had given her consent to a possible marriage between the two boys. Nina does not go into details with the woman, but simply confesses to Jill that Ryan has preferred Victoria. Disappointed by Ryan's choice and determined to oppose it in every way, Victor and Jill get very close. The two of them, who are working more and more closely together after John removes Jill from the promotional sector, start spending a lot of time together talking about their respective problems and goals. A flirtation is even born between the two, soon finding themselves making love under the sheets. However, the two admit to having little in common and, above all, they still show their intentions to pursue their respective goals, namely John and Nikki.

1992 (#20) - Victor's opposition and Ryan and Victoria's secret marriage

More and more convinced to take Ryan back, Victoria knows that it won't be easy to beat Nina's competition and that, to do so, she will be forced to give herself to Ryan. Ryan, in the meantime, is more and more attracted to Nina, who even starts thinking about a possible wedding date; however, the boy feels that the woman is not the right one for him, since the feelings he has for Victoria have not yet faded away. It is precisely in a moment of Ryan's thoughts and doubts that Victoria calls him to inform him that she is ready to make love to him. Ryan runs to the girl and the two spend a whole day together, admitting their feelings for each other and confessing that they love each other. However, at the end of the evening, Victoria freezes, revealing that she is not yet ready to take such a step. Victoria, amidst tears, then informs that she saw Ryan making love to Nina and that she wanted to try to give herself to him; she would love to, but is unable to do so. Ryan, completely shocked by Victoria's words, then confesses that he has decided who to be with, and it is her. Ryan, who apologizes for making the girl suffer, intends to prove his feelings for her and promises Victoria that he will wait for her. The girl thus begins to plan her wedding with Ryan, despite being aware that her father Victor will never be able to accept this marriage. Victor himself, meanwhile, tries to favor young Brandon Collins as a possible mate for his daughter, informing her that he has already arranged for both of them to attend college in Chicago. Taking advantage of the fact that Victor is planning to give two tickets to the two boys to visit their next college town, hoping that they will start dating and maybe fall in love, Victoria manages to leave with Ryan instead of Brandon and, forging her documents, she marries the man. Nina, who has no idea that Ryan is back with Victoria, already begins to fantasize about her future with the man and gets a major point in her favor when Jill admits that Ryan might be the right man for her. Nina, however, is shocked to learn, from Ryan's own words, that he has married Victoria and loves her like he has never loved any other woman. Nina, without even the strength to counter or react, runs away and Ryan refrains from the instinct to pursue her, returning instead to a very happy Victoria with whom he declares his undying love. Of course, despite the marriage, the two are forced to live separately since Victor must never know anything about their marriage.

1992 (#13) - Victoria's determination, Ryan's uncertainty and Nina's temptations

Throughout Nikki's convalescence, Victor spends a lot of time with his ex-wife, which rekindles Victoria's hopes of finally seeing her parents together again. Victoria herself proposes to her father to make a pact to stay away from Ryan in case he comes back with his mother. However, once again the young girl's expectations are not confirmed, as Victor is forced to admit to his daughter that, in spite of everything, Nikki is married to Jack and he to Ashley; two marriages, these, that everyone intends to respect. Victoria had seen Victor's vigil at Nikki's bedside as a sign that they would remarry, but this is not the case. Disappointed and bitter, the girl, in a show of defiance towards her father, announces against her parents' wishes that she would resume dating Ryan, who in the meantime has completely forgotten the girl to be with Nina, with whom he lives happily and, above all, without any inhibitions. When Victoria asks Ryan for a date, Ryan, who in his heart still feels something for the girl, accepts to meet her without mentioning anything about the fact that he is seeing Nina. Victoria is very sincere in asking for forgiveness for having ended things with him and, above all, in asking for a second chance. Ryan seems puzzled, but when Victoria promises her that they can get married as soon as she turns 18, thus becoming the heir to Newman Enterprises, Ryan changes his attitude. And so, very soon, Ryan finds himself in the middle of a very complicated situation in which he finds himself simultaneously with two women he loves both and towards whom he cannot make a choice. On the one hand there is in fact the young and beautiful Victoria, his first true love, who by marrying would make him inherit an industrial empire; on the other hand there is Nina, who unlike the first one satisfies him sexually, Victoria being still a virgin and not wanting to have her first relationship outside of marriage. Just when Ryan clearly begins to see the advantages of engaging with Victoria and makes the decision to break off his relationship with Nina, she shows up at Ryan's with a new red convertible head purchased as a graduation gift for Ryan. Ryan is completely enraptured and realizes that Nina is a Chancellor after all and that she is also a good choice financially. Deciding to postpone his decision yet again, Ryan accepts Nina's invitation to go celebrate, and the two spend the entire evening together. Victoria, meanwhile, enters Ryan's house determined to surprise Ryan, just as he returns from the evening with Nina. Victoria, hiding in a closet, is forced to witness the end of Ryan and Nina's evening as they make love under the very eyes of a desperate Victoria. Slipped away, Victoria can't believe that Ryan is also dating Nina. However, the woman doesn't lose heart and promises herself to make Ryan hers.

1992 (#8) - The breakup with John and the unbridled passion between Ryan and Nina

After a long period of ups and downs, mainly due to the unforgettable and horrible events linked to David, Nina finally seems to have found her own balance and, above all, the stability she had been lacking for too long. The main accomplice of this change is John Silva, whom she met through her friendship with Christine and who soon entered her life thanks to the sweetness, generosity and goodness of heart that have always distinguished the lawyer. Between Nina and John begins a relationship in which the woman gradually begins to appreciate the security and stability that the man is able to guarantee her. Nina regains her self-confidence and opens her mind and her interests to new horizons. Particularly happy with this relationship is Flo, who appreciates the company of a good guy like John, who is also an established professional. In short, everything seemed to be perfect for Nina, but what is missing in this life is that bit of madness and transgression that she just can't resist. Her fantasies materialize when the girl accidentally runs into a distracted Ryan, still thinking about his breakup with Victoria. Despite the fact that the man has tried several times to reestablish a relationship with her, the young Victoria has reiterated that she has no intention of going back on her steps. Music to the ears of Nina who, having become aware that she doesn’t love John, even though he has great feelings of affection and esteem for her, begins to turn her attention to the boy. It doesn't take long before the two spend the night together, since this happens even at the first date. And from this moment, an unbelievable passion never experienced strikes between the two that can't keep them out of the bedroom. Ryan and Nina seem to have always belonged to each other and start a story that Flo, however, can't accept at all as she can't understand how Nina could leave a man like John, who is forced to accept her decision after all.

1992 (#1) - Nina and John's dating and Christine's professional breakthrough

Despite her work commitments and her marriage to Danny, Christine does not give up her friendship with Nina; after all, after the death of Phillip Jr. and her experience with David, she really needs to have someone next to her who can make her see life with optimism. Nina confesses to Christine that she feels that little Chance, who is actually growing up with Katherine, lacks a father figure, just as she lacks a man. Christine is very sorry for Nina's situation, although she is hopeful that she will soon find love. In fact, Christine is not wrong at all since it is not long before Nina makes the acquaintance of John Silva, the young lawyer in Christine's firm. It is the woman herself who first notices the mutual interest between the two and, together with Danny, sets up a double date that is evidently successful, since the two start dating. News, meanwhile, are also coming for Christine. Her talent and skill, in fact, certainly do not go unnoticed and soon the woman receives one of those life-changing calls. On the other end of the phone, in fact, is Michael Baldwind, a young but already well-known lawyer who asks Christine to join his law firm. For Christine, being able to join such a prominent law firm is a dream come true; however, thinking about the fact that she would have to leave John alone to work in the small but cozy Legal Aid, she declines the offer. However, when Christine informs John of the call, it is John himself who thinks Christine's refusal is crazy and urges her to call Michael back immediately and take the job, before she is forced to start regretting it for a long time. Christine is overjoyed and calls the Baldwin firm again, but when another voice answers, she thinks the whole thing is a joke. Luckily for her, however, this is not the case at all, as Aaron Bentley, another employee of the firm, is on the other end of the line, inviting her to come in. The interview between Michael and Christine is a real success and they convince the man to offer a contract to an ecstatic Christine, who celebrates with Danny the hiring and the realization of one of the dreams she had since childhood.

1991 (#25) - The failed assassination attempt, Paul's pursuit and David's death

The charity ball organized by John and Katherine will also be attended by Danny, Christine and Nina, all happy to enjoy a special evening. Katherine also invites Flo and Jim, but the two refuse the offer, preferring to be alone. In fact, if on the one hand Flo regrets not attending the ball, it is the same woman who insists on refusing Katherine's invitation, not wanting to disappoint Jim who confessed to him that he hates disguises. In reality, the whole thing is part of David's plan, who intends to attend the dance, but as a murderer. In the meantime, Diane comes back to town, furious at being sidelined by David and jealous of his marriage to Flo. Arriving at the ball, Danny and Christine are thrilled to learn that their costumes will be worn for the entire evening and there can be no revelation of people's identities. Meanwhile, Nina also arrives at the ball, accompanied by Katherine, anxious to have a fun evening. What no one knows is that David is also present at the party, dressed as a wolf just like Danny to blend in even more with the crowd, intent on making sure that this evening will be unforgettable for everyone. Between one dance and another, and throughout the evening, David tries to track down his targets; in the end, taking advantage of the fact that he can blend in with Danny, he manages to gather all three of his predestined victims in a corner and, immediately causing a chill to fall among the attendees, pulls out his gun. Nina and Christine, in despair, realize that this is not a joke and panic, but the whole thing ends in an apparent prank that fills the room with humor and hilarity when the gun does not come out real bullets, but of wax. David, incredulous at what has happened, decides to leave the party unnoticed, still unable to give himself an explanation. The truth is that this time it's Diane who gets in David's way, as she understood David's whole plan and wanted to take revenge for being dumped. Even though the episode has almost passed into the background, it doesn't leave Paul indifferent, who is called by John and Katherine to be the plainclothes security man for the party. So Paul decides to follow the trail of the man, who turns out not to be Danny, until, feeling chased, David begins to run away. Suddenly, Paul starts running after him, beginning a furious manhunt. The whole thing ends on the top floor of the building, with David who, having no other way out, inadvertently jumps into a chute used to throw in the garbage while the compacting machine is working. David, thus, dies on the spot mutilated by the machine, closing the party in tragedy. Flo cries desperately at the news of her husband's death, and seems inconsolable despite all the stories from Nina, Katherine and Christine, who assure her of David's bad intentions, which finally belong only to the past.

1991 (#21) - Flo's return, her marriage to Jim and David's new identity

It has been a few months now since David was pronounced dead, and Nina has now moved on with her life, intent on raising little Chance along with Katherine's care immersed in the comfort and beauty of the Chancellor estate. Although there are no men in her life, Nina is happy with her peace of mind and the happiness she has achieved thanks to Katherine and her love for her son. Her tranquility, however, is abruptly disturbed when she receives a call from her mother, Flo, who informs her that she is moving to Genoa City intending to start a new life and is eager to show her daughter the changes she has made and her commitment to improving day by day. Nina is skeptical to believe that her mother has put aside alcohol and clients; however, she is genuinely impressed to see her mother in a new and sober guise. Katherine is delighted to meet the woman and decides to host her at her place to be near her daughter and Chance. Flo, however, surprises everyone by informing Nina that she already has a house in Genoa City, since she is living with her new man whom she will soon marry: Jim Adams. Nina is shocked to learn that her mother has found a man, and even more shocked to learn that they will soon be married. Flo introduces Jim to Nina and Katherine, who, however, can't even imagine the truth, that Jim is none other than David, evidently restored by a second operation, as well as by a dye job on the hair and moustache he has grown. David in fact, having put aside his affair with Diane, is back on track to finish his job left half done, that is to take the Chancellors' money and kill Nina and Katherine. Obviously, all this is not suspected by Flo, who is hopelessly in love with the man who has suddenly fallen into her life and who has overwhelmed her with romance and love; and Nina doesn't suspect it either, given the great understanding she has with Jim. On the day of Flo and Jim's wedding, therefore, everyone is excited to celebrate this new union. But if David has changed aesthetically, he certainly hasn't changed in his character nor in his intentions; and with these, his manipulative abilities have remained intact, since in a short time he manages to convince Nina to include him and Flo among the co-beneficiaries of her wealth and that of Chance, at his death. David's plans are finally about to come true.

1991 (#14) - David and Diane's plans, staged death and facial surgery

In the meantime, David, still in the hospital, overcomes his critical condition and begins to recover. However, the man pretends to have paralysis in his legs in order to prolong his stay in the hospital and thus avoid that the doors of prison opened for him. Determined to find revenge against Nina and the Chancellors, Katherine in primis, David begins, with the help of Diane, to elaborate a plan to escape. Capturing a corpse in the hospital morgue, David manages to transport it to his room and then sets fire to the whole room. When the cops arrive at the hospital, they assume that the remains of the charred body found on his hospital bed belong to David and dismiss the case as a suicide. Nina, Katherine and Christine are happy that David is dead, relieved that that chapter of their lives is finally over. However, David is not dead at all and is now free to run away with Diane undisturbed. In order to remain inconspicuous, however, David is aware that he must change his identity and to do so he decides to approach a disbarred plastic surgeon, Dr. Brian Ringle, to have a total facial makeover. David exuberantly asks to look like the actor David Husselhoff and forces the doctor to operate on him, but the surgeon, who is aware of David's evil intentions having recognized him, decides to reconstruct the man's face leaving him a souvenir on his forehead, that is sculpting the word "murderer". Having done this, while David is still under anesthesia and before he can wake up, he decides to escape leaving his traces.

1991 (#9) - The meeting with Flo, the trial for attempted murder and Nina's acquittal

When the police and doctors arrive at Nina and David's house, the scenario that unfolds before their eyes is shocking. David is lying on the ground in a pool of blood, under the petrified eyes of Nina, who is still holding the gun. David is rushed to the hospital, while Nina is taken to the police station for questioning and charged by prosecutor Glenn Richards for attempted murder. Katherine and Jill rush to the police station, where they obtain the woman's immediate release on bail pending the trial. Nina doesn't say a word and decides to remain silent despite Jill and Katherine's questions, shocked by what has happened but inside happy to have finally closed this dangerous chapter of their lives. Both try to console Nina, assuring her that they are convinced she will be acquitted since it was self-defense, and they set about contacting their lawyers. Nina, however, is more confused than ever, and upon hearing the news that David is still alive, she instinctively takes Chance and decides to leave. Leaving the city, the woman goes with little Chance to his mother, Flo, in search of help. Flo is astonished but at the same time happy to see Nina again after all these years, who doesn't mention anything about what happened. From Nina's cold attitude, it soon becomes clear that she never had much of a relationship with her mother, and it doesn't take long to understand why, as Nina soon realizes that Flo has never changed in all these years; her mother, in fact, still continues to drink and work as a prostitute. Meanwhile, Jill, Katherine and Christine panic when they can't find Chance or Nina. Realizing that the woman has escaped, Christine sets out on her trail and, suspecting that she may have gone to her mother's, runs to her. Flo, meanwhile, is displeased by Nina's sudden decision to leave; her repeated promises to change her life are obviously not believed by Nina, who feels trapped and does not want to raise Chance in that environment. Determined to escape to Mexico to start a new life and in search of safety, Nina is tracked down by Christine just as she is about to get back in the car. Christine eventually manages to convince Nina to do the right thing, certain that in the end her innocence will come out despite all the trouble she has gotten into. Back in town, Nina is then taken to jail to await her trial, where she testifies that she shot in self-defense and makes a heartfelt plea to be given the chance to raise her son. The hard work of Katherine's lawyer, Rick Dooley, who point by point pitted David's criminal life, eventually convinces the jurors of David's dangerousness and evil intentions, thus acquitting Nina, found not guilty, who explodes from joy and happiness along with Christine, Jill and Katherine.

1991 (#4) - The discovery of the lies, Nina's shock and the shooting with David

Despite all of David's manipulations, Nina is still unaware of her husband's real intentions and, more in love with him than ever, is more and more determined to continue her marriage. The constant warnings of Christine, Danny, Katherine and Jill, however, slowly begin to break through her mind, and she begins to be suspicious of David. Arriving at David's office to surprise her, Nina, not finding the man who in the meantime is in the company of his lover Diane, begins to rummage through his papers. The woman is shocked by what she finds, or rather what she doesn't find: no documents, no papers referring to David's supposed investment company. It was all a farce. When she hears David arrive at the office in the company of his mistress, Nina then hides in a closet and is shocked to hear from her husband about his plans to take possession of the entire Chancellor fortune, if necessary even killing Nina and Chance, and run away with the money in the company of Diane far from the city. Nina, in a panic, manages to get out of the office unnoticed. Meanwhile, Christine finds out about David's affair with Diane and runs to tell Nina, finding the woman at home completely distraught and grief-stricken. Christine is happy that the woman has finally opened her eyes to the man and, before leaving her alone to think, promises to help her get rid of David. Christine, however, does not suspect the seriousness of the state of shock in which Nina has fallen. Blinded by anger and feeling betrayed, she waits for her husband's return to take her revenge. And so, when David returns home, Nina welcomes him, warning him that she has understood everything and shooting him with five shots from her newly purchased gun

1990 (#33) - Nina's trust for Chance and David's willingness to adopt

Following Danny and Christine's wedding, Scott, Nina, David, Jill and Rex also arrive in Hawaii, with the task of acting as witnesses to their wedding. None of them, however, knows that Diane, David's lover, is also present in Hawaii, forcing the man to shuttle back and forth between her and Nina; despite having risked being discovered, David manages to keep his lover's presence secret, to whom the man assures that he will soon be free to be with her. This promise seems to be really not very reassuring for Nina, leaving a glimpse of nothing good in David's intentions. David, in fact, just as Danny, Christine and Jill suspect, is exclusively interested in the Chancellors' money. When, due to a serious pollution problem, the lake where the brooch was thrown is drained, the police recover Nina's brooch, but they are unable to connect the story with David's. David, meanwhile, discovers that the Chancellor is not the only one who is interested in the money. David, in the meantime, discovers that Nina's entire inheritance has been reserved in a trust for Chance alone, in agreement with Jill and Katherine. David, therefore, realizes that the only way to get the money is to become father of little Chance. When the man confesses to Nina his desire to become Chance's adoptive father, she is enthusiastic. The project, however, finds the full and firm disapproval of Katherine and Jill who, in agreement with baby sitter Erika Finley who confirms that David has never been there for little Chance, accuse David once again of wanting to aim exclusively at Nina's dowry. Fed up with hearing accusations against David, Nina then informs David's detractors that it is her intention to leave Genoa City with David and Chance if they didn't stop accusing David. When Jill and Katherine point out that David has done nothing to disprove them, at this point it is Nina herself who asks David for proof that will silence and discourage Jill and Katherine from accusing him, which forces David to agree to give up the adoption. At this point, only one thing can allow him to get to the money: killing both Nina and Chance.

1990 (#30) - Danny's innocence and his wedding in Hawaii to Christine

In prison, Danny defends himself, and everyone, Christine first, is convinced that the boy was set up. Brought to trial, Danny finds out from his lawyer that he could be released from prison due to a technicality, since the police raid, led by Detective Salena, took place without a search warrant and, therefore, is not valid and cannot be entered into the record. Danny, however, decides with great courage to give up the possibility of taking advantage of this shortcut, wanting to be acquitted for not having committed the fact. The judge therefore reopens the case and in the end, Danny succeeds in his intent and thanks to Christine's testimony he is released. The woman, in fact, says she remembers that Danny received a bouquet of flowers the night of the concert where he was arrested; and she says she suspects that the cocaine might have been brought by the florist. The discovery of his uniform in the air hoses dispelled all doubt, proving that Danny was framed. Overjoyed to have proved his innocence, Christine and Danny embrace for a long time and, suddenly, decide that they don't want to be apart anymore and that they don't want to wait to get married, after so many postponements; therefore, they hurriedly organize their wedding, which they decide to celebrate in the exclusive, idyllic and paradisiacal scenery of the Hawaiian Islands, where the two young people exchange their wedding vows.

1990 (#28) - David's pin and the false drug charges against Danny

Vivian's sudden death leaves everyone in Genoa City stunned and filled with grief, especially Chase, who has never hidden his feelings for the woman. The man, therefore, promises Vivian to continue her battle and to find out everything about the death of her friend Rebecca; he then decides to confide to Christine his suspicions about David, linked not only to the similarity of the photo, but also to the brooch given to Nina. Both Christine and Danny recognize the brooch and are absolutely convinced of David's danger and of the need to intervene immediately. Danny decides to travel to New Jersey with Chase and Christine, who manage to identify the jeweler where the brooch was purchased, who confirms that it belonged to Rebecca. Knowing that many people are digging into his past, David decides to act again, this time to stop Danny. David thus decides to frame him by placing a baggie containing cocaine in his dressing room. After being tipped off with an anonymous call, which David is certain was made by David, the police raid Danny's dressing room and, under the astonished eyes of all, arrest him on drug dealing charges despite Christine's bewilderment and protests.
