1991 (#1) - Lauren's pregnancy, jealousy over Sheila and Scotty's birth

Still hurt by her husband Scott's betrayal with Sheila, Lauren has been going through some very difficult times in recent months. On the one hand, she wants to forgive Scott and welcome him back into her home, and on the other hand, she is jealous of the fact that he is spending time with Sheila and their future child. But Lauren keeps telling herself that she can never forgive Scott and that he should never be a part of her life again. And while she is torn between these conflicting feelings, Lauren is growing her own baby and Scott's baby inside of her; a baby that Scott is currently unaware he is expecting. Meanwhile, Sheila experiences similar moments of anticipation, but in a completely different mood and atmosphere. With her, in fact, is a very happy Scott who can't wait to become a father. Sheila knows that it's the baby that's the key to keeping the man, who otherwise would probably prefer to go back to Lauren. Scott, in fact, does not fail to have moments of melancholy thinking about Lauren and her marriage, which ended in the worst way. Scott wouldn't have wanted it to end like that, but to console him there is always a careful present Sheila, who is trying in every way to make him forget the woman. Sheila, in the meantime, urged by her friend and faithful secretary Marjorie, decides to tell Scott the truth about her pregnancy, determined to get her husband back; but just as she is about to do so, Sheila arrives and informs her that she and Scott are recently engaged. The news leaves Lauren distraught and she desperately returns to the office with tears in her eyes. Just as she is telling Marjorie about her meeting with Sheila, the woman inadvertently begins to go into labor. Rushed to the emergency room by Marjorie, Lauren and Scott's son is born. Lauren is overjoyed to hold her son, who still has no name as she hasn't decided on one, in her arms and feels a unique thrill of joy. Marjorie assumes that Scott has the right to feel the same joy, but Lauren points out that she will have it when her son, the one she had with Sheila, is born. She makes it clear that Lauren, despite her moments of weakness and her admission that she has now forgiven Scott, believes that he has the right to try and be happy with Sheila.

1988 (#23) - The breakup with Chase and Katherine's rethinking of Nina

A few weeks after the agreement between Jill and Chase, the woman's plan to get her son away from Nina seems to be working. After the umpteenth confirmation that Phillip Jr.'s interest is only in winning back Christine, in fact, Nina is tempted by Chase's proposal to leave for Los Angeles and leave the child alone for a few days with his babysitter Erika Finley. All as planned by Jill, who intends to sue the girl for child abandonment. Nina, a caring mother as she is, does not fall into Jill's trap, however, and after thinking about it, she refuses the proposal. This episode particularly strikes Katherine, who is convinced that this whole affair cannot but be the work of a manipulator like Jill. Katherine then, Jill's bitter enemy, begins to feel a certain sympathy for Nina, also convinced by Rex of the genuineness of feelings, spontaneity and simplicity of the girl. It is Katherine, then, who goes to apologize to Nina for all the obstacles so far placed against her; the woman then reveals to Nina that certainly the whole Chase affair is Jill's work, as confirmed by the fact that Chase works side by side with the woman. Nina, then, decides to immediately end all relations with the boy and, extremely disappointed by Jill, informs her that she cannot forbid her in any way to pursue her aims. Aims that at this moment translate into getting the attention of Phillip Jr, who is still interested in the beautiful Christine. Nina and Katherine, however, strengthen their friendship and Katherine promises her that she will help her to conquer Phillip Jr, also because it is their task to raise little Chance, the last descendant of the Chancellors. Helped also by Rex and the reformed couple Christine and Danny, who are starting to reappear and who apparently both have an interest in Phillip Jr. starting to take an interest in Nina, Katherine thus begins to transform the simpleton Nina into a refined classy woman capable of dressing, putting on makeup, talking and entertaining, thus making her the kind of woman Phillip Jr. can fall in love with.

1987 (#23) - Joanna's decision and Lauren's control of Fenmore Warehouses

Left completely alone after Neil's death, their only real touchstone, Joanna and Lauren do not let themselves fall into despair. After a natural and physiological period of pain and reflection, in fact, they show themselves especially in this circumstance so difficult for what they are, women with great character and strength of spirit. Together, in fact, they decide to continue Neil's work and not to frustrate what the man had dedicated his whole life to, his activity. Starting from scratch, over the years Neil had created and set up a real commercial empire in large-scale distribution, the Fenmore Warehouses, the result of his commitment and sacrifices. He decided to carry on the business he had built, also to honour his memory, Joanna and Lauren threw themselves headlong into this adventure, beginning to work hard to reassure their many customers about the continuation of their company and to restore its financial situation as quickly as possible. In particular, Joanna decides that it is time for Lauren to enter the business world and carry on her father's great work by becoming the president of Fenmore's warehouses. Lauren, proud of this decision, thus begins to gain experience in the world of work, promising herself that she will be able to best honour Neil's memory. It was during this period that Lauren made the acquaintance of Marjorie Burns, with whom she established a great friendship and who would soon become her personal secretary for many years to come.
