1994 (#35) - Norman's demand for Katherine's inheritance and Rex's tragic death

Immediately after the wedding, on his way back from the honeymoon, Norman begins to put his criminal plan into action, informing an enraptured Esther of his desire to create his own family and, therefore, to ask Katherine for an advance on his inheritance in order to build a larger house. At this point it is Esther herself who begins to have doubts about Norman's cons, finding his request extravagant to say the least. After Esther's refusal to ask Katherine for such a thing, it is Norman himself who proposes to come forward. Arriving at Katherine's, already informed by Esther of Noman's bizarre idea, in order to convince her to endorse him a check, the man receives from the woman and from Rex the bitter truth: there has never been a marriage between him and Esther! Feeling framed, Norman runs away before the police officers Pete Connell and Michael Morgan can arrest him. No one, however, expects the tragic event that is about to hit them. Back to take revenge, in fact, Norman is caught by Gina robbing Katherine's safe; Norman pulls out his gun and starts shooting wildly, hitting Rex in the chest, who falls to the ground under Katherine's shocked eyes. The trip to the hospital, unfortunately, is useless, and Rex, after a few days of hanging on by a thread, dies next to a desperate and inconsolable Katherine. Norman's escape lasts for a while and he is soon arrested by Pete himself; little consolation for Katherine, who is consoled by everyone, especially Brock, who has returned on purpose, as well as Danny and Gina, orphaned of their father.

1994 (#31) - Paul's proposal to Christine and Phyllis' recriminations

When Paul surprises Christine by asking her to become his wife, the woman, obviously moved, accepts with tears in her eyes for joy. Mary herself, who has always been skeptical that Christine could be the right woman for her son, finally decides to accept Christine into the family, becoming for her a sort of second mother. In short, everything seems to be going well in view of a long-awaited and desired marriage. The only one who isn't at all happy about the news of the upcoming wedding seems to be Danny, who doesn't give up in his battle with Paul to win back Christine's heart. Paul, annoyed by Danny's continuous pressure, urges him to leave his fiancée and future wife alone; a fight almost ensues, interrupted only by the woman, who tries in vain to convince Danny to put his soul at rest. Things are complicated by the arrival in town of Phyllis and her son Daniel, who is determined to get Danny back and make her marriage work, at any cost. A not at all shy Phyllis then appears before Gina, Danny's sister, and Rex, the man's father, to tell her version of the facts and accuse Danny of having abandoned her with his son. Phyllis recriminates her husband and tries in every way to convince two surprised and astonished Gina and Rex, unaware of all the intense events experienced by Danny in New York, to change Danny's mind and make him change his steps. Danny, meanwhile, organizes a romantic dinner for Christine with the aim of bringing back to her mind their many memories together; but Christine, though moved, confirms her will to move on. Christine, then, urges Danny to get rid of Phyllis, considered a dangerous and mentally unstable woman, and to obtain custody of little Daniel, on which to rebuild his life. The dinner ends with a farewell kiss between Christine and Danny, which Paul narrowly misses. In any case, Danny resigns himself to having lost his ex-partner and wishes Paul a long life with Christine, while warning him to always treat her with the utmost respect, since otherwise he will have to deal with him. Phyllis, is overjoyed by Danny's decision to resign himself to Christine's marriage, but is well aware that she still has a lot to do to get her husband back.

1992 (#10) - Rex and Katherine's marriage and Jill's idea of a double wedding.

Having been happily together for months, Katherine and Rex, more and more convinced of being made for each other, begin to organize their wedding to start all over from where they had interrupted their story because of Clint's manipulations. To help Katherine with the preparations is strangely enough her arch-enemy of all times, Jill. Despite the fact that for some time now peace seems to have broken out between Katherine and Jill, culminating in a mutual agreement to help each other or at least not hinder each other in their attempts to win back the hearts of Rex and John respectively, Katherine seems quite surprised by the woman's offer of help. Jill, of course, has a precise plan on her side: to turn the wedding into a double surprise wedding with John having by now definitively dismissed his interest in Leanna and choosing her. So, when Jill informs Katherine of her intentions, the woman appears very skeptical but, keeping faith with her pact, agrees not to hinder the idea, and even to favor her by making Jill the maid of honor and John the main witness of the celebration. As the days go by, then, Jill is preoccupied with buying the wedding rings and contacting the Reverend about performing a double ceremony. Then when Jill was forced to get John to sign the acceptance for the wedding, in order not to inform him and to arrange a surprise for him without his knowledge, she put the document among her countless papers to sign, so as to get the signature without the man noticing. When the big day of the wedding arrives, Katherine and Rex proclaim their eternal love under the smug and emotional eyes of the entire community gathered at the church, first and foremost Brock, Danny and Gina, who are happy for their father's newfound joy despite his opposition to her continuing to spend time with Clint by visiting him in jail. At the end of the celebration, Jill tells the guests that, if John wants, this will be the occasion for a second wedding. Completely disconcerted by this proposal, as well as all the guests, John refuses the proposal, so that the plan fails. However, during the wedding banquet, John makes up for it by dancing with the woman who is now officially his partner.

1991 (#20) - Brock's intervention and Clint's redemption

Rex immediately informs Katherine about the fact that Gina hides in the house with her husband. The woman doesn't seem surprised by Gina's behavior, but swears to herself that she will make this situation end as soon as possible. Despite her intentions, however, Gina doesn't let Katherine convince her, and instead tries to get an enraged Mrs. Chancellor to keep her cool, trying to make her understand that she loves Clint more than her own life and that she couldn't live without him. Gina then tries to make Katherine understand that she needed to protect him and begs Katherine to keep quiet. Katherine leaves the house completely stunned, but promises herself that she will make Clint pay for the pain he has caused her. Realizing that Katherine has been upset by her encounter with Clint, it is Brock's turn to go to Gina's house to try to reason with her, but even this meeting proves fruitless as she will not budge from her position. Ignoring Gina's plea to give Clint a second chance, Brock leaves Gina's house informing her that he is on his way to the police to report Clint's presence in her house. But, as soon as he leaves Gina's house, Brock is attacked and assaulted by a group of armed robbers. Clint, from the top of the window, immediately notices the ambush against Brock, and, without a second thought, puts his fugitive status at risk to come out to his rescue. In the end, Clint manages to put the thugs on the run, effectively saving Brock's life; however, in the ambush Clint is struck by a gunshot probably aimed at Brock. Admitted to the hospital under a false name, Clint receives treatment from doctors and wakes up out of danger. Waiting for him to wake up is a moved Gina, who together with Brock and Katherine have been watching over him and praying for him. A joyful Katherine does not stop thanking the man for saving her son's life; at the same time, Rex cannot believe Katherine's words about Clint's gesture of altruism, happy to have shown his wife for the first time what she already knew, that he too has a heart. In a sincere and intense discourse between men, Clint assures Rex that he never intended to hurt Gina and that his feelings for her are true; and it is because of the genuine love he feels for Gina that the man decides to turn himself in and pay his debt to justice. Desperate at the news, Gina begs the man to run away with her, no matter where. However, Clint admits to the woman that he does not deserve her and that he wants to finally redeem himself since she has transformed him into a better man. Clint turns himself in to the cops who take him back to prison to finish his sentence.

1991 (#17) - Gina's complicity in Clint's absconding and Rex's warnings

Despite the fact that it's been a long time since Clint's arrest following his diabolical plan to eliminate Katherine, replace her with a doppelganger and empty her entire estate, Gina still can't put this matter aside. Incredulous and shocked at all that her husband has been able to do, an inconsolable Gina is relieved by Rex, Katherine and her brother Danny, who urge her to move on and forget her marriage. The woman, however, despite everything, does not feel like asking for a divorce from her husband, convinced that there must be an explanation for what happened. And Rex's revelations about Clint's past and the fact that he married her only to get closer to him and to Katherine are worth nothing, since Gina categorically rejects the idea that her marriage with Clint is based on lies, since they really love each other. And so, when Clint surprisingly shows up at the woman's door, she doesn't think twice about welcoming him into her home. Clint admits to Gina that he has made a mistake and that he has escaped from prison by disguising himself as a cleaner; and the woman, though furious with the man, in the end is unable to remain inflexible with the man she loves and accepts his requests and pleas to hide him in the house. For a few weeks, therefore, Clint lives hidden in his house, protected in his absconding by Gina, aware of being an accomplice to a crime but at the same time happy to have her husband back. When the cops knock on Gina's door to find out if Clint had come to see her, she lies and pretends not to want anything to do with a criminal like her ex-husband. The staging, however, if it succeeds in deceiving the police does not hold up in front of Rex, who reads in the eyes of his daughter a deep inner conflict. In the end, Gina instinctively discharges her tension by admitting that she is hiding Clint at home, asking her father what else she could do since she can do nothing but love her husband. However, Rex is incredulous and angry, unable to understand how his daughter can accept to be used in that way; especially after all the pain Clint has caused her.

1990 (#32) - Katherine's sights and Jill's dual involvement with Rex and John

While Rex's plan to discredit Leanna has failed, we certainly can't say that the kiss between the two hasn't had consequences. Katherine, once again determined to have her ex-husband back and ready to start a new war against Jill, decides to take advantage of the situation in order to distance Rex and Jill and, therefore, make Rex come back to her. Katherine, therefore, does everything she can to convince Leanna to date the man, who in the meantime has revealed himself to the woman with his true identity. Rex and Leanna, in fact, continue to see each other, which annoys Jill. The situation gets worse when Jill begins to feel neglected by Rex's useless and vain attempt to take her daughter Gina away from Clint. Not at all willing to be put on the back burner, Jill begins to look elsewhere, deciding to start seeing John again, who in the meantime admits to her that he cannot forget her. For a short time, then, Jill finds herself dating both Rex and John, each of whom is unaware of the situation and believes he is the only man in the woman's life. This, however, does not go unnoticed by Katherine's watchful eyes, and she decides to move on to the final part of her plan, which is to bring the truth out into the light of day. Unbeknownst to Rex and Jill, Katherine confides to John that she is happy for his reunion with Jill and that she has organized an engagement party for him. Jill is happy to accept John's invitation, but does not suspect that Katherine has urged Rex to come to the party to tell Jill of his feelings. As soon as she arrives at Katherine's house, Jill immediately senses the woman's intentions, but is unable to prevent John, in the middle of dinner, from pulling out a flashy ring asking Jill to be his wife. The scene is witnessed by a distraught Rex, who doesn't understand what's going on despite Jill desperately trying to remedy the situation by taking John out and making the guests believe that John, having had a few too many drinks, is not fully lucid. However, it is clear that John is perfectly sober and instead Jill has more than something to explain. Both Rex and John come to the same conclusion, realizing that they have been deceived by the woman and deciding to immediately end their relationship with Jill under Katherine's satisfied and amused eyes. Katherine, after having made sure that Leanna has no intention of continuing to see Rex, not wanting to be the second choice after Jill, is ready to run to console the man, who gets closer to Katherine.

1990 (#22) - Brock and Katherine's embrace and Clint's arrest

Back in her estate, Katherine immediately finds her son Brock, who immediately recognizes her. The two let themselves go into a very long embrace of emotion and joy. Immediately, Katherine tells the man about all the misadventures she has experienced and the fear she felt during her imprisonment; she then informs the man of Marge's gesture of generosity, probably convinced by Brock himself, and of the fact that at that moment Esther is still being held prisoner. Promptly alerting the police, the raid frees a very happy Esther and arrests Lil and Morey, who promptly mention Clint's name. Katherine is shocked to learn that the whole plan has been devised by the man, and so is happy to witness his arrest and that, amidst protests, of Shirley and Robert for aiding and abetting. In the meantime, Shirley and Robert are fired on the spot by Katherine, who decides to have a very happy Esther, with whom she has had an experience she will hardly forget, return to work with her. Also arrested, Marge remains in prison only a few days, since Katherine, infinitely grateful to the woman for having given up everything to bring out the truth and having allowed him to regain possession of his life, officially requests his release by testifying in his favor. Marge, believed innocent and considered a simple pawn in Clint's hands, affectionately thanks Katherine, before leaving Genoa City forever. In the meantime, Katherine, as the days go by, realizes the countless damages done by Clint, who has liquidated most of her possessions; however, Katherine's despair turns to joy when Mitchell Sherman, her lawyer, reassures her by pointing out that all of Marge's actions are legally null and void, including the sale of Chancellor's Industries, which thus returns to Katherine's hands. At this point, Gina's situation is really difficult, as she finds herself married, and still in love, with a man who has just been arrested and who, she realizes, she had never met before.

1990 (#7) - The relationship with Clint and the sale of Chancellor Industries

As the weeks go by, the change in "Katherine", actually Marge, becomes more and more evident. So much so that Rex struggles to recognize his wife and to glimpse in her the woman he married only a few months earlier. Convinced that the woman has been influenced by Clint, Rex is furious when Robert and Shirley admit to Rex that they know Clint and have been pushed by him to be hired by Katherine. This is in fact Clint's ingenious plan, as he realizes that the only way to get Rex to accept that the woman he lives with is really Katherine is to give him a reason as to why she has changed so dramatically. Marge and Clint, thus, begin to make Rex believe that there is a secret relationship between them, which would justify the man's constant presence in the house and the change in Katherine's lifestyle. Clint, playing along and acting his part, denies Rex's alleged accusations, instructing him to stay away from his wife and get back with Gina, before Rex convinces his own daughter to kick Clint out of the house. Giving indirect support to Clint is then Jill, who doesn't miss a chance to accuse Katherine of having returned to the selfish, alcoholic and bawdy woman she once was; Jill thus confesses to Rex about the woman's past, which incredibly looks a lot like her present. All of this convinces Rex that Katherine's current behavior is not strange at all; strange, rather, was that the woman had been kind and generous to him. Satisfied with the way things are working out, Clint informs Marge that it is time to get to work, and start making money from their plan. It isn't until a few days later that the bombshell news reported in all the newspapers arrives: Chancellor Industries has been sold for 100 million dollars! The news leaves Victor, John, Jill and especially Rex stunned. They can't believe that the woman has sold out to the highest bidder, a wealthy French tycoon named Jacques Troullier, actually a front man for Clint, a real empire like the one built by her husband many years before. She is even more speechless when the woman dismisses the matter with a few words, justifying herself that it wasn't that important and that she was tired of thinking about her companies all day long.

1989 (#28) - The contribution of Lil and Morey, the kidnapping of Katherine with Esther

Unaware of Gina, who in the meantime receives Rex's apology for her suspicions towards Clint, he prepares every last detail of his diabolical plan. First, he informs two excited Shirley and Robert that he has found a Katherine double and that he wants to replace her with her, thus recommending to the two infiltrators that they must do everything possible to make Marge adapt to the new reality. But first of all, and even more importantly, Clint, with the help of two accomplices, namely Lil Porter, a woman with a strong temperament, and Morey Hoover, a small man hopelessly in love with Lil and certainly more shy and awkward than her, experts in makeup and masking, transforms an excited Marge in order to make her look as much like Katherine as possible. First her hair is dyed blond and her golden tooth is replaced; then it's the turn of a full-bodied beauty treatment, a small facelift and a careful manicure. Then, Clint, with the help of Shirley and Robert, who in the meantime are studying the original Katherine, tries to give Marge the same movements and tone of voice as Mrs. Chancellor. For Marge, who is also learning the typical Katherine walk, and all the faces and relationships with her of the many people, relatives and friends who know Katherine. For Marge it was really hard to identify with a new person, having also had to give up smoking and drinking; however, the reasons for doing so were certainly not lacking, from the economic prospects, to the luxury and comfort that awaits her to, finally, her marriage to Rex, curious to find out if the nickname "sexy Rexy" coined by Katherine has or does not have foundation. Now, for Clint, all that was left was to really start the plan, which involved the kidnapping of Katherine, which would be taken care of by Lil and Morey, and her replacement with Marge, who would live on the estate together with the support of Roobert and Shirley, two invaluable infiltrators able to help the woman at all times. Robert's first attempt to put Katherine to sleep with chloroform is interrupted when Katherine has a sudden attack of appendicitis, which forces Clint to postpone everything and, above all, forces Marge to undergo the operation herself. After a few weeks, finally, everything is ready for Shirley and Robert's second attempt. Katherine now seems to have recovered and Marge is ready to take over. What Clint and Robert did not foresee, however, is the arrival of Esther at the estate; the woman, who arrived to find out about Katherine's health and above all to make her aware of the wonderful news of expecting a baby at Tiny's, is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Without thinking twice about it, two agitated Robert and Shirley kidnap both Katherine and Esther, entrusting the two women to Lil and Morey, who take them to a shack outside of town. Clint, at the same time, makes Marge wear the same clothes that Katherine had and makes her enter her role for the first time. And although Clint is furious that he had to kidnap Esther too, he still appears optimistic about the success of their diabolical plan, promising everyone that they will soon be very rich.

1989 (#19) - The hiring of Shirley and Robert, Clint's meeting with the Marge lookalike

Upon learning that Katherine, after Esther's dismissal, is looking for new staff, Clint doesn't miss the opportunity to have a contact within the Chancellor estate, and invites her criminal friends Robert and Shirley Haskell to act as her replacement. All unbeknownst to Gina, but above all to Rex and Katherine, who are happy when Robert and Shirley inform them that they are married and that they do not have the need to leave the estate and meet other people. Katherine, who would have preferred Esther's return, hires the couple just moments before the woman, feeling guilty about quitting, returns to the estate to ask the woman to be willing to return to work for her. Katherine is sorry to inform her that she has just hired Shirley and Robert, who in the meantime are starting to look around and are astonished at the luxury of the villa and the riches of Katherine; for Esther, however, there is at least the consolation that to replace her she had to hire not one but two people. Meanwhile, on her way back after having had to go out of town, Clint stops at a modest, seedy inn on the road in search of a hot, quick meal. When a woman serves her dinner, Clint is shocked to see Katherine Chancellor in her. At first the man thinks that his imagination is due to his tiredness and obsession with Katherine's riches; but when he then stares at the woman, she actually seems to be Katherine's identical lookalike, with the only difference being her red hair. Impressed by the resemblance of the woman's face to Katherine's, Clint begins to talking and getting to know the waitress, named Marge Cotrooke, pretending to be interested in her. Marge confirms to him that she has no relatives in Genoa City and that she does not know this Katherine Chancellor at all. Clint then asks the woman if she wants to become rich and starts working out an incredible plan: to replace Marge with Katherine, thanks also to the help of Shirley and Robert!

1989 (#9) - Rex's warnings and the hasty marriage between Clint and Gina

The friendship between Gina and Clint, meanwhile, becomes more and more intimate. The man, who continues to live in Gina's Motel, understands that the woman has an interest in her when she gives him a discount on the rent. From here, the clever Clint, as charming and mysterious as ever in Gina's eyes, understands that he can take advantage of the situation to get to the Chancellors' money. Clint in fact, having learned that Gina is the daughter of his former cellmate Rex, now married to Katherine, does not intend to miss this opportunity and seduces Gina, literally crazy about him, to try to get as much benefit as possible. Making sure to get into Gina's heart before Rex himself suspects something, Clint's only obstacle seems to be Gina's suspicious brother, Danny. However, she manages to keep the boy at bay, inciting him to think about his life and not take too much care of his older sister. When Gina and Clint's relationship is made public, Rex is shocked to learn that Clint is engaged to his daughter and tries in vain to separate them. All in vain and, above all, too late: when Rex is convinced to reveal to his daughter the identity of that ex-convict, in fact, a radiant Clint tells him that he has become her son-in-law. Rex is therefore shocked to see the wedding ring on Gina's finger, which tells a shocked Rex that she has married! Rex, literally speechless, asks Gina for explanations and tries to identify with the role of the father who is worried about his daughter. Gina, however, silences him immediately, reminding him that he has always been disinterested in his life and telling him not to accept his orders or his advice, considering himself a daughter without parents. Moreover, when Gina finds out the truth about Clint's past, she once again sides with her husband, believing that Clint too is entitled to a second chance to redeem himself from his past, just as he was given in his marriage to Katherine. Rex, in this way, is forced to put on a good face and to accept this union even if unwillingly, not hiding his doubts about the choice of his daughter. Rex, in fact, does not fail to continually warn her of the danger of Clint, who instead professes all his love for the woman.

1988 (#31) - Clint's room for rent and flirting with Gina

At the end of the year, the sentimental situation of the new generation of protagonists in Genoa City was at least tangled. On the one hand there is Nina, with her son Chance, who hopes to reunite her family with Phillip Jr., a reunification desired by Katherine and Christine herself. Christine, who in reality is none other than the object of Phillip Jr.'s own desire, but who in reality appears uncertain whether to resume her story with Danny or dive into the arms of the unknown but charming young Chase. Throughout this situation, Rex and Katherine are obviously concerned about the situation of Phillip Jr., who finds himself in love with a woman who pushes him into the arms of the mother of his son. Katherine's fear, in particular, is that the boy may start drinking again, an addiction that is always around the corner as the boy never completely overcomes his vice. Meanwhile, the relationship between Rex and his sons, Danny and Gina is getting stronger and stronger. Danny is happy that his father has found serenity with Katherine, and at the same time Rex is confident that Christine may decide to return with him. Rex is also intrigued by Gina's love life, a very independent woman who devotes all her days to running her restaurant and hotel. Gina confirms her suspicions to her father: she is having a flirt with a man; however, she decides not to reveal her identity, since her own, for now, is a simple flirt. Surely, Rex would not be happy about this if he knew that the man in question is Clint Radison, a former cellmate of his. Clint, who shows an unsettling look many times, has in fact rented a room at Gina's motel and spends much of his time with the woman, who seems to like the presence of the man in his life.

1988 (#10) - The mistrust of Danny and Gina, the marriage between Rex and Katherine

When the strange marriage between Rex and Katherine seems imminent, the two feel more united and in love than ever before. However, not many people are happy about the event. First of all, there's obviously Jill, who still doesn't give up and tries in every way she can to convince Rex to change his mind, despite a radiant Katherine reminding her that her future husband has decided who to spend the rest of his life with. But it is not only Jill who hopes that this marriage will not be celebrated. Rex's children, Danny and Gina, are also strongly opposed to it. On the one hand, they don't trust their father's real change and, on the other hand, they can't stand that snobbish and obnoxious Katherine enters the family. Among the two, Gina is the first to support the the wedding, enthusiastic about the prospect of being able to come into contact with the immense riches of the woman; Danny, on the other hand, is more tenacious, who does not allow himself to be "bought" by the shining economic prospects and refuses attending the wedding of the man he cannot yet consider as his father. And if Rex is unable to talk some sense into his son, not even by humbly apologizing for all his failings, it is Katherine herself who in the end makes the boy think again by telling him about the prenup that Rex himself wanted. The gesture does not leave Danny indifferent, who surprisingly realizes how their father has perhaps really changed, and agrees to give him a second chance to restore their relationship, also agreeing to be his witness. Katherine, thus, gets married to Rex, under the enthusiastic and moved eyes of Gina and Danny, happy to have found their father, who attend the ceremony officiated by Reverend Bert Fowler and in front of a moved Esther. The only one who is not happy for this wedding is obviously Jill, who has to cash in a new defeat in the endless feud against Katherine.

1988 (#8) - Jill's advances and the prenup between Rex and Katherine

The discovery of Rex's identity leaves both Katherine and Jill very surprised. Both now see the man with different eyes and in a different light. Rex apologizes to Katherine for not being completely honest with her, but he feels compelled to make it up to her, not hiding the fact that this very episode, which made him risk losing her, made him realize how much he cares about her and he fears the end of their relationship. Rex then understands that he begins to have sincere and pure feelings for Katherine; a relationship that, he hopes, could convince Gina and Danny that their father has actually changed. But the episode triggers something especially in Jill, who finds herself inexplicably attracted to Rex as the days go by. Probably for her sweet and humble ways, probably out of a simple sense of jealousy towards her bitter enemy Katherine, the fact is that Jill, from paying Rex to be with another woman, now wants nothing more than to convince the man to be with her. Rex, however, has no intention whatsoever of making yet another mistake in his life and letting a mature and judicious woman like Katherine slip through his fingers; on the other hand, he has seen and known far too many fascinating and dangerous women like Jill, until he is fed up with them. This is obviously not known to Jill, who dumps the handsome David, whose relationship has never really worked out, to start seducing Rex. When Katherine discovers Jill's intentions, the man's reassurances do not avoid a furious, yet another fight with the historical enemy. Rex, meanwhile, determined to commit himself to Katherine, tells Jill that he wants to immediately break their agreement to seduce Katherine. Hearing these words, convinced that Rex is now hers, Jill seems enthusiastic; but the woman makes a big mistake, being strongly disappointed when the man reveals that he has fallen in love with Katherine and that he intends to ask her to marry him. At this point, however, it is Katherine who seems uncertain about taking such a step; having spoken with Danny, in fact, the woman seems to be convinced that Rex intends to cheat her. But Rex finally manages to persuade the woman of his genuineness of his feelings, showing her a prenuptial agreement that he intends to make with her where it is established that Rex, in case of divorce, would receive the symbolic share of one dollar without the possibility of being able to recriminate anything before a judge. Faced with this proposal, Katherine thus begins to realize how Rex loves her in a genuine and sincere way, and therefore decides to enthusiastically accept her proposal of marriage.

1988 (#2) - The deal with Jill and the discovery of Rex's true identity

When Rex informs David and Jill that he no longer wants to date a greedy and hysterical woman like Katherine, Jill, in order to convince the man to continue seeing his bitter enemy, promises Rex to pay him. Rex, not understanding why Jill insists on continuing this farce, appears skeptical, but in the end accepts willingly when Jill presents him with a written agreement. Not satisfied, Jill tries to do everything possible to embarrass Katherine, persuading her to publicly expose her relationship with the man, in the hope of making her look bad because she is seeing a former tramp. So she organizes a double date at Gina's, convinced that there is definitely someone who will recognize Rex next to the woman. No one, however, has any idea what is going to happen that night. As soon as Gina sees Jill and runs to say hello, she is completely shocked to see her, David and Katherine together with her father Brian! In total dismay, Rex then explains that he is actually Gina and Danny's father and that he has changed his identity, since he was once called Brian Romalotti. Gina then explains that Rex has been in prison several times and that he is famous for being called "the wizard of the scam". The statement leaves everyone speechless, and when Gina does to escape, Rex runs after her in an attempt to explain the situation. So Rex reaches Gina asking her forgiveness for all his past mistakes, saying that he is now on a new path and has returned to Genoa City to meet the only thing that matters to him now: his children. Rex, therefore, confesses to Gina that he hopes for a reconciliation just when Danny arrives, incredulous to find himself in front of the person he hated the most all these years: his father. Rex promises them that he will show them that he has changed and, in the meantime, he won't ask them anything or interfere with their lives if they don't want to. These words perplex Gina, who seems to be touched by her encounter with Rex, while apparently they don't upset Danny at all, always skeptical that his father has really changed, saying that he will only bring trouble.

1987 (#13) - Nikki's recovery and the kiss on the ranch between Ashley and Victor

Knowing that Nikki is looking for Ashley, Paul, whom John hired to keep his daughter's presence at the mental institution away from indiscreet eyes, breaks his attorney-client privilege by telling Nikki where the woman is. Nikki, increasingly convinced that she must entrust Victor and Victoria to the woman, thus makes a visit to Ashley, who shows clear signs of improvement. Nikki is astounded and shocked to see how someone with such a strong character as Ashley could have been appalled in this way, and opens up to her sharing her wishes; at the same time, Ashley confesses that she knows about her illness and is deeply sorry about it, revealing that she prays every day for her recovery. Nikki is amazed at how Ashley knows about her illness; and then, talking to Dr. Steven and comparing the dates of Ashley's disappearance and the outbreak of her illness, she realizes that Victor returned with her, and left Ashley, solely out of compassion and guilt for her, certainly not out of love. Nikki, completely shocked, bitter and disappointed, leaves the institute in tears. Completely out of her mind, Nikki refuses to take her medication despite Casey's warnings and, having found herself at Gina's, Nikki completely loses her inhibitions and starts taking off her clothes. It is a worried Gina to interrupt the improvised striptease and contact Victor, who as soon as warned runs to retrieve his wife and bring her home. Just as Casey decides it's time to run new tests and ask the doctor for new opinions on Nikki's condition, Ashley is released from the institute completely restored. The first thing Ashley intends to do is to contact and see Victor to explain the reasons for her abortion and close this chapter definitively. Ashley and Victor organize their meeting at the man's ranch, just as Nikki and Casey receive the incredible news at the hospital that Nikki is completely cured. Full of happiness and overflowing with joy, Nikki runs to Victor to inform him of her recovery and, when she arrives at the ranch, Nikki is informed that Victor is riding. Also getting on a horse, Nikki decides to join the man, but is shocked to find Victor talking to Ashley, with the two declaring their love for each other despite the fact that it is impossible for them to be together. Nikki watches them kiss each other goodbye in disgust before leaving completely horrified and disappointed.

1986 (#27) - Jack's probation and Ellen's experience with the homeless

Michael is thrilled when the doctors inform him that Jill is responding to treatment and that her life is no longer in danger; and when she wakes up, the woman sees her man caressing her face. Shortly thereafter, Carl arrives at the hospital to get information from the woman about who shot her. Jill describes the evening of the attack by telling all the details of the scene; however, she confesses that she does not remember who attacked her. When Carl informs her that Jack has been arrested and convicted, Jill cannot exclude that it was not the man, remembering that she saw him at the presentation with a very dark and grudging face. Taken to prison by Carl himself, Jack desperately proclaims his innocence, although no one seems to give him credit as the evidence against him is very clear. Jack and his lawyer Howard Morrison can't make his case in front of the cops, and spends his first night in jail. Here, Jack realizes he can't face a whole trial, since he's sure that sooner or later he'll get out and go public on his night of love with Jill. Determined not to make his father suffer even more and not to cause him a new pain like the one he would suffer because of the leak, Jack the next day rejects Gina's proposal, who intends to testify before Judge Walter Edmonson to exonerate the man, telling how he defended her by driving away her attackers with his own gun. Jack, on the other hand, surprisingly charges himself with the assault and is sentenced to five years on probation, as a reward for spontaneous confession. Jack, thus, is taken to prison and, during the day, begins to frequent the homeless shelter where he has been sent to serve daily. This experience proved to be of great influence on Jack, who began to appreciate the true values of life and to come into contact with the other side of society that he had never known before, that of poverty, hunger and misery. Jack also makes the acquaintance of two volunteers from the center, Ron Clarke and Marvin Hawkins, and especially Ellen Winters, the center's manager, who immediately shows great sympathy for Jack. Impressed by Jack's sweetheart as he takes care of an old lady at the center named Nellie Flint, Ellen soon begins to develop something for the man. A great harmony is born between the two, to the point that they exchange a fleeting kiss soaked in feelings.

1986 (#20) - Jill's hospitalization in intensive care unit and the clues against Jack

Shortly after Sven puts the gun back, Jack willing to quickly forget this bad day comes out of his room and heads off. He notices, however, just outside the hotel, that some vagabonds are bothering Gina and so he asks the hotel concierge, Leonard, for help. With Leonard's gun, Jack runs after Gina's attackers and makes them leave before returning the gun to the owner. Michael, meanwhile, returns to his room and finds Jill lying on the floor in the shower in a pool of blood. He immediately alerts the ambulance, which takes Jill to the hospital, where she arrives in critical condition and is taken under observation in intensive care by Dr. Hank Steele. As Jill struggles between life and death, Michael informs the police of what happened and Carl, along with his assistant Salena Wylie, takes control of the investigation. After an argument with Michael about who might want to hurt Jill, suspicions all fall on Jack, who learns from Carl that the weapon used is a 38 caliber, the very one he used to drive away Gina's attackers. Scared that his fingerprints are on Leonard's gun, Jack runs to the hotel and takes the gun away, getting rid of it and throwing it into a lake. Carl soon realizes Leonard's gun is missing and immediately sets out to find Jack, who is no longer being tracked down. Jack, in fact, afraid that he might be accused of attempted murder, is trying to escape from Genoa City by boarding a one-way flight to Tahiti. Intercepted by Salena, this stops him in time and takes him back to the police station where he's interrogated. on charges of attempted murder despite these attempts to explain his reasons. Jack's position, however, becomes increasingly problematic when, a few days later, a cop named Ken Cosny finds the incriminating weapon with the man's prints on it.

1986 (#19) - Jack's advances to Gina and Sven's shots in the shower to Jill.

On the day of the presentation of the new Jabot Men Collection at the City Hotel, everyone is excited. In the end, the collection was a resounding success and John congratulated a very happy Jill, who celebrated with Michael for a wonderful evening with a luxury dinner in the same hotel. At the presentation of the line there is also a disappointed and bitter Jack, forced to see the success of Jill, with whom he is still furious for having determined his expulsion from the company. Jack then confronts John, but he liquidates him without giving him a chance to speak. Jack, eager to distract himself and get this ominous day out of his mind, meets Gina in the lobby of the hotel, with whom he begins to flirt. When he is about to make love, however, Gina rejects Jack's advances, leaving her hotel room annoyed. Meanwhile, right in the suite next to Jack's, Jill relaxes with one of Sven's messages. The man can't hold back his passion and starts kissing Jill on the back who, noticing the man's attempts at seduction, enragedly chases him out of the room. A disappointed Gina, who finds herself in the hotel bar with a drink in her hand, sees the arrival of an angry Sven, with whom she shares a couple of drinks before the man decides to go back up. No one, however, notices that Sven takes the service revolver of Leonard Baines, the hotel receptionist. Sven, completely drunk and insane, returns to Jill's hotel room with the second key; the second key, unaware of anything, is caught in the shower by Sven, who fires two shots from the 38 calibre before going back down and putting the gun back.

1985 (#20) - Gina's past in jail and the missing wedding with Neil

Despite all of Lauren, Joanna and Shawn's attempts to come between Gina and Neil and hinder their love, the couple seems more determined than ever to follow their feelings and announce to everyone that they want to get married. Upon hearing the news, Lauren and Joanna are upset and try in vain to reason with an inflexible Neil. Lauren then decides to take the initiative on her own and, taking advantage of the private investigator skills she learned from her husband Paul, manages to obtain Gina's criminal record. What Lauren discovers confirms her suspicions, since she learns that she has been in prison several times, especially in New York. Lauren then decides to immediately go to the Big Apple to find out more, and here she manages to contact Frances Leighton, a former cellmate of Gina. When Lauren shows up in front of a grumpy Frances with some money she intends to give him in case he decides to go to Genoa City with her to tell everyone about Gina's past and interrupt her wedding. Frances, a woman with few scruples, immediately accepts the proposal. A very happy Lauren, in the company of Framces, immediately flies in the direction of Genoa City, where the next day the wedding between Gina and her father is scheduled, with the clear intention of doing everything possible to prevent this from happening. The following day, therefore, Lauren anticipates to Joanna and Paul that there will be great news; Lauren thus introduces the strange Frances to all the guests at the pre-wedding brunch, indicating her as an old friend of Gina's; but it is on the altar that Lauren's plan is put into action, with Frances taking the floor and revealing to everyone that she shared a cell in the New York penitentiary with Gina. Neil is shocked to hear these words and immediately asks Gina why she is not being honest. Bitterly disappointed, and unwilling to hear the woman's excuses, Neil says goodbye to all the guests and announces that there will be no wedding, which makes both Lauren and Joanna happy. Since the wedding day, Gina and Neil have not met. Only a few weeks later, Gina finds the strength to confront Neil and appear before him for the first time after the breakup. Gina, with her heart in her hands, admits that she made many mistakes in the past and that she didn't tell him about them because she didn't want Neil to judge her for what she was and not for what she is, a different person. Unfortunately, Gina says, she would like to change the past, but she can't. So she leaves the choice whether or not to continue their relationship with Neil, taking off her engagement ring and leaving it on the table. The man, however, doesn't say or do anything, suggesting that he has no intention of forgiving the woman, nor of getting back with her. It is at this point that Shawn takes action again to drive Paul and Lauren away: Shawn sends a letter to Gina, making her believe it is from Frances, where he tells her to come to New York immediately. Gina flies immediately, with the clear intention of meeting the person who ruined his life, and here Frances, astonished by the woman's arrival, confesses everything about her deal with Lauren. Back in Genoa City, Gina then hurls herself against Lauren, promising that she would make him pay for it, under Paul's somewhat astonished eyes, who didn't think his wife was capable of doing such a thing, disappointed, moreover, for having kept him completely out of it.
