Back in her estate, Katherine immediately finds her son Brock, who immediately recognizes her. The two let themselves go into a very long embrace of emotion and joy. Immediately, Katherine tells the man about all the misadventures she has experienced and the fear she felt during her imprisonment; she then informs the man of Marge's gesture of generosity, probably convinced by Brock himself, and of the fact that at that moment Esther is still being held prisoner. Promptly alerting the police, the raid frees a very happy Esther and arrests Lil and Morey, who promptly mention Clint's name. Katherine is shocked to learn that the whole plan has been devised by the man, and so is happy to witness his arrest and that, amidst protests, of Shirley and Robert for aiding and abetting. In the meantime, Shirley and Robert are fired on the spot by Katherine, who decides to have a very happy Esther, with whom she has had an experience she will hardly forget, return to work with her. Also arrested, Marge remains in prison only a few days, since Katherine, infinitely grateful to the woman for having given up everything to bring out the truth and having allowed him to regain possession of his life, officially requests his release by testifying in his favor. Marge, believed innocent and considered a simple pawn in Clint's hands, affectionately thanks Katherine, before leaving Genoa City forever. In the meantime, Katherine, as the days go by, realizes the countless damages done by Clint, who has liquidated most of her possessions; however, Katherine's despair turns to joy when Mitchell Sherman, her lawyer, reassures her by pointing out that all of Marge's actions are legally null and void, including the sale of Chancellor's Industries, which thus returns to Katherine's hands. At this point, Gina's situation is really difficult, as she finds herself married, and still in love, with a man who has just been arrested and who, she realizes, she had never met before.

1990 (#19) - Marge's repentance and replacement with Katherine
Clint is satisfied with how things are going; the plan to replace Marge is bearing fruit and before long, as soon as he has liquidated all of Marge's assets, he plans to kill the real Katherine so that he can finish the show and escape with the money. Marge is not at all convinced, however, and she seems very conflicted about continuing to pursue the project, beginning to feel remorse for her actions and no longer feeling free in the role of a stranger. However, any talk of her doubts is immediately interrupted by Clint, who has absolutely no intention of screwing things up. Neither of them, however, suspects in the meantime that Brock has now come to the conclusion that the one living at the Chancellor estate is not the real Katherine; and it doesn't take long before Brock is able to overhear a heated discussion right between Marge and Clint. Convinced that Marge might regret her actions, Brock takes the woman aside and tells her that he understands everything; he then urges her to put an end to this cruel kidnapping and let her mother go free. Meanwhile, the real Katherine, reading the newspaper article reporting the sale of Chancellor's Industries, becomes more and more convinced that Brock is now on their trail and will soon come to free her and Esther. It is Marge, however, who arrives at the house that serves as the two women's prison. Marge informs Lil that she needs to talk to the real Katherine because she needs to know the combination to her safe and begs her and Morey to leave her alone with her in the cell; inside, Katherine is shocked to see her own copy in front of her, but she is even more shocked when the woman starts screaming and banging on the wall making her realize that she wants to stage a furious argument between the two of them. Katherine, when Marge begins to undress, quickly understands the woman's intentions, who wants to exchange clothes with the woman and thus give Katherine the coveted freedom. Katherine, finally free after months and months of kidnapping, can thus finally run to get her life back.

1990 (#13) - Esther's pregnancy complications and meeting Brock
As time passes in the darkness and despair of her own imprisonment, Esther's pregnancy becomes more and more evident. Until the last moment she tried to hide her condition because of the shame of the night of love spent with Tiny. And although she doesn't want to talk about it, she finally opens up to Katherine, revealing everything about her experience with Tiny. Katherine, frustrated that someone may have stolen her identity and filled with anger and vengeance for whoever may have hatched such a plan, eventually convinces Esther that her baby may be the key to getting out of prison. Esther, thus, seeks Morey's help, confessing to her that she is pregnant and needs treatment. Lil curses the day of the kidnapping when they had to take Esther away as well as Katherine, while Morey realizes that Esther may need to go to the hospital. Lil, however, is adamantly against it and so decides to call a doctor to examine her on the spot. In reality, it's a fake doctor who is Lil's accomplice and who, while still reassuring Esther, thwarts Katherine's desperate attempt to communicate from the outside by leaving a help note in her jacket pocket. On Esther's birthday, Morey brings the woman a larger maid's uniform as a gift, given the protracted pregnancy. Katherine realizes that Morey is the couple's weak point and the one to leverage and approach for a possible friendship; noting that he likes to play cards constantly, Katherine devises a plan in which Esther would challenge the man while she would try to take his gun away. The ruse works and Katherine finds herself within seconds pointing the gun at the man, who backs away; however, Lil returns in time and hits Katherine by breaking a liquor bottle over her head. Katherine falls to the floor unconscious and Lil orders Morey to confine her to her room with Esther. Esther, meanwhile, has a sudden panic attack due to stress. Worried about the child's health, Morey asks Lil to take Esther to the hospital and, at the umpteenth desperate request of the woman, Lil is convinced. The two guards then inform Clint of Esther's state of pregnancy and the need to go to the hospital. Clint's worries and fears of being discovered are realized when Esther is seen at the hospital by Brock, who immediately tries, in vain, to reach her. Knowing that he cannot stop the man's intentions, Clint decides to arrange a meeting with Marge as well and, after Brock's numerous insistences, she finally decides to go to the hospital to visit the woman. At the hospital, Esther is overjoyed to see Brock, who insists to the presumed Katherine that she bring Esther home; Marge, in the guise of Katherine, however, refuses the offer and, in private, threatens Esther herself to cooperate and be annoyed by her presence, so that Brock can be convinced not to insist. In the end, Esther admits that she does not want to go to Katherine's and that she has a very happy life away from them. When the doctors rule that Esther must remain in observation for two more days, Lil is increasingly nervous; and her concerns prove to be well-founded when Katherine convinces Morey to let her talk to Esther on the phone just as she receives a visit from Brock. Taking advantage of the fact that Marge and Lil are outside talking to the doctors, trying to convince them to have the woman discharged immediately, Esther manages to get the real Katherine to talk to Brock, who, shocked, greets the woman with his nickname by which he has always called her, "Duchess," leaving a hopeful smile on the woman's face.

1990 (#5) - Katherine's unheard pleas and imprisonment with Esther
In the shelter used as a prison for Esther and Katherine, Lil and Morey receive very specific instructions from Clint, who orders them to firmly obey orders. Meanwhile, a frightened Esther is reassured by Katherine that they will soon be free, convinced that the kidnappers want nothing more than her money. Kept in isolation for a few days, Esther and Katherine patiently wait for developments, to no avail. Katherine begins to worry, not understanding why the negotiations do not seem to be leading to their release. Increasingly anxious and determined to get news about Rex, Katherine and Esther begin to make their voices heard, something that distresses Morey, who is convinced to at least give the two women the chance to get out of their prison for a few hours a day. Despite not being convinced at all, knowing that Clint has expressly forbidden them to have relations with them so that they will never be able to recognize them, in the end the woman agrees to grant some dignity to the imprisonment of the two, personally bringing them food. But if Morey shows concern for the health of the two, Lil doesn't make a fuss and appears very hard on Esther and Katherine. The latter, meanwhile, offers the two some money to free her. At first, the offer is 100 thousand dollars, but when neither Lil nor Morey responds to the woman's requests, a desperate Katherine uselessly raises the offer to one million dollars each; just as useless are her requests to be able to speak with Rex, even if only to hear his voice. With the passing of the days, however, the conditions of imprisonment of the two women improve further, when Morey, unbeknownst to Lil, decides to bring them a TV. Just at that moment Marge, in the guise of Katherine, is about to appear on TV to accept an award for her humanitarian work and charity work, despite Clint's lively discouragement that she fears to jeopardize her plan; all to see live presenter Corbin Bernsen, her idol. Two distraught Katherine and Esther then understand why the woman's financial demands have gone unheeded: Katherine has been robbed of her very identity!

1989 (#28) - The contribution of Lil and Morey, the kidnapping of Katherine with Esther
Unaware of Gina, who in the meantime receives Rex's apology for her suspicions towards Clint, he prepares every last detail of his diabolical plan. First, he informs two excited Shirley and Robert that he has found a Katherine double and that he wants to replace her with her, thus recommending to the two infiltrators that they must do everything possible to make Marge adapt to the new reality. But first of all, and even more importantly, Clint, with the help of two accomplices, namely Lil Porter, a woman with a strong temperament, and Morey Hoover, a small man hopelessly in love with Lil and certainly more shy and awkward than her, experts in makeup and masking, transforms an excited Marge in order to make her look as much like Katherine as possible. First her hair is dyed blond and her golden tooth is replaced; then it's the turn of a full-bodied beauty treatment, a small facelift and a careful manicure. Then, Clint, with the help of Shirley and Robert, who in the meantime are studying the original Katherine, tries to give Marge the same movements and tone of voice as Mrs. Chancellor. For Marge, who is also learning the typical Katherine walk, and all the faces and relationships with her of the many people, relatives and friends who know Katherine. For Marge it was really hard to identify with a new person, having also had to give up smoking and drinking; however, the reasons for doing so were certainly not lacking, from the economic prospects, to the luxury and comfort that awaits her to, finally, her marriage to Rex, curious to find out if the nickname "sexy Rexy" coined by Katherine has or does not have foundation. Now, for Clint, all that was left was to really start the plan, which involved the kidnapping of Katherine, which would be taken care of by Lil and Morey, and her replacement with Marge, who would live on the estate together with the support of Roobert and Shirley, two invaluable infiltrators able to help the woman at all times. Robert's first attempt to put Katherine to sleep with chloroform is interrupted when Katherine has a sudden attack of appendicitis, which forces Clint to postpone everything and, above all, forces Marge to undergo the operation herself. After a few weeks, finally, everything is ready for Shirley and Robert's second attempt. Katherine now seems to have recovered and Marge is ready to take over. What Clint and Robert did not foresee, however, is the arrival of Esther at the estate; the woman, who arrived to find out about Katherine's health and above all to make her aware of the wonderful news of expecting a baby at Tiny's, is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Without thinking twice about it, two agitated Robert and Shirley kidnap both Katherine and Esther, entrusting the two women to Lil and Morey, who take them to a shack outside of town. Clint, at the same time, makes Marge wear the same clothes that Katherine had and makes her enter her role for the first time. And although Clint is furious that he had to kidnap Esther too, he still appears optimistic about the success of their diabolical plan, promising everyone that they will soon be very rich.
