1987 (#27) - Christine's indecision, Nina's pregnancy and the choice of Phillip Jr

A few weeks after the episode that led Jill and Katherine to ask Phillip Jr. to start attending AA, things don't seem to be going so well for the boy. The sessions, in fact, have little influence on the boy, who instead is constantly transported by the ups and downs in his relationship with Christine, undecided between him and Danny. In the meantime, he orders Phillips Jr. to forget about the girl, informing him that he and Christine will soon marry. Upset by Danny's plan to ask for Christine's hand in marriage, Phillip Jr. decides to run for cover immediately, anticipating the boy and surprisingly asking Christine to marry him. However, the girl, caught completely off guard, asks Phillip Jr. for time and is surprised when she receives a similar proposal from Danny the same evening, who in turn receives the same answer. Disappointed by Christine's answer, and convinced that the girl will never choose him and that right now she is accepting Danny's proposal, Phillip Jr. finds himself alone at the Rendezvous drinking. Next to him, there is a thoughtful and sad Nina, who cannot forget the loss of her son and dreams of a new pregnancy. Nina and Phillip Jr thus make their acquaintance, and Phillip Jr immediately proves that he has already exceeded the limit of alcohol capable of keeping him sober. Nina then decides to take advantage of the handsome young man, also a Chancellor, to seduce him and get him drunk until a night of passion with him. The next day, realizing the trouble, Phillip Jr. begs Nina not to say anything to Christine; hope, however, is in vain, since the girl does not take long to spread the word. Christine, still undecided who to choose between Danny and Phillip Jr. and which proposal to accept, when she receives news from Nina that Phillip Jr. has spent the night with her, is furious and very disappointed. Determined to marry Danny, Christine suffers more than she thought because of Phillip Jr.'s betrayal, and it is this, in the end, that makes her realize that it is actually Phillip Jr. who loves, and not Danny. So Christine decides to break off her relationship with Danny and officially get engaged to Phillip Jr., who is overjoyed. Neither of them, however, suspects anything of what is happening to an ecstatic Nina, who discovers she is pregnant with him.
