1990 (#26) - Brad and Leanna's partnership and Rex's attempt at sabotage

A year after her divorce from Victor and her employment at the Genoa Chronicle, Leanna, now known as Leanna Love, has become famous for her spicy romance articles. The writer is followed with interest by Brad, who decides to meet her to propose a collaboration with Jabot Cosmetics. Leanna, visually struck by Brad's beauty, accepts the proposal of the man, who intends to exploit the popularity of the woman to advertise Jabot by bringing her on television with a column of advice featuring the company's products. This decision, however, is strongly opposed by Victor, who has no intention of hiring his ex-wife at Jabot. It is only the intervention of Douglas, a great admirer of Leanna's, that convinces him to create a television show for her, the "Leanna Love Show". The show, obviously full of scoops and news about the glittering and golden world of celebrities, is an immediate and extraordinary success, but meets with the disapproval of Michael, her current boyfriend, not convinced by Brad's intentions. This leads to a breakup between Michael, who decides to move to Chicago, and Leanna, who confirms her intention to continue the project. Things change, however, when Leanna decides to change the title of her show to "I Hate Men", a clear reference to her unfortunate love affairs, in which she aims to ridicule the male gender. Jack doesn't like the idea at all, and criticizes Brad for the choice of associating the Jabot brand to Leanna. He finds the support of John, who is not at all convinced that Leanna can bring any benefit to the company and is instead worried that she might create a sort of negative publicity around the brand. Brad, however, openly takes Leanna's side, opposing her replacement and justifying his choice with the show's high audience figures and, above all, the dramatic increase in their sales. In the meantime, even Jill is convinced of the necessity to disassociate herself from Leanna and Rex decides to help his companion by making Leanna lose her popularity. Rex and Jill, thus, hatch a plot to end the woman's reign as queen of the TV talk shows by making Leanna herself look hypocritical in front of her audience. And so Rex, in the disguise of Roger Bingham, manages to seduce the woman and have a photo taken of him kissing her, with the clear intent of demonstrating that Leanna doesn't hate men at all. All the tabloids and magazines, as predicted by Rex and Jill, then report the news of Leanna's alleged affair; however, this news does not affect the success of Leanna's program, which in fact sanctions the failure of their plan.
