1982 (#3) - The divorce with April, Paul's detective agency and the weekend in Aspen
It's been almost a year since April and Paul got married. Meanwhile, Heather has made a full recovery, and things in the family seem to be going well. Paul himself now seems to have decided to change his life, abandoning old bad habits and cutting ties with bad influences; Paul has also decided, to the delight of Carl and Mary, to return to school so that he can aspire to a decent job. However, the bond between Paul and April has never blossomed and the two, though married, do not love each other as they should in a marriage. In addition, parental responsibilities are too much of a burden for Paul and he realizes that he can't handle it. In agreement with April, therefore, Paul decides to divorce April, although there is still a strong friendship and mutual affection for little Heather. Determined to change his life, but certainly not to fall back on the mistakes of the past, Paul decides to follow his father's footsteps, opening a detective agency. Another important news for Paul is the new sentimental implication represented by Bobbie Smith, a girl with an incredible resemblance to April, but very different in character. There is a great harmony between the two; and the girl's advances, initially rejected by Paul because he is still married, are also one of the reasons that led Paul to divorce April. Bobbie, in fact, about the emotional ties, thinks just like Paul, who wants to live his young age without too many commitments and having fun. A real love was immediately born between them, but without commitments, which materializes in a romantic weekend in Aspen with the girl. Patty is the first to notice that Paul is dating a new girl, and to Carl and Mary's questions the boy answers that it is not an important story.
