1980 (#14) - Rose and Vince's threats, Nikki's escape and car accident

Rose and Vince curse Nikki for the mess she got them into, now having a dead man on their shoulders to hide. When they read the newspapers, in fact, the two realize that the corpse has already been found by the police, despite having for the moment put their hands on the an innocent, Tony Baker. Nikki tries to explain the whole dynamic and that Walter died exclusively of a heart attack, but Rose doesn't want to hear the girl speak anymore and decides to fire her on the spot. Back home, frightened and bitter, Nikki is shocked to learn that her husband Greg has just been assigned to defend Tony Baker, accused of the murder of Walter Addison. So Nikki cannot believe that her unsuspecting husband has been called to defend the very man accused of murder for the death for which she is responsible, Walter's death. She decides not to make any more references to her old job and to let things go their own way, but it is not long before Rose herself contacts Nikki, having discovered that Tony's lawyer is her husband. So Rose and Vince threaten to kill her in case she can't convince him to send Tony to jail. This is a request that Nikki promises to fulfill, even though she has absolutely no idea how to do it, because Greg won't let her interfere with his work in any way. Scared and desperate, Nikki then decides to do the only thing possible: run away. Before doing so, she writes a passionate letter to Greg in which she tells him all the facts that have happened, from her involvement in Walter's death to the true nature of the prostitution ring that hides Rose and Vincent's fashion agency, before asking Greg's forgiveness and once again professing his love. Once in the car, however, a Nikki, blinded by despair, goes off the road, getting involved in a dramatic accident, where she manages to save herself.
