Here the doctors inform Greg, in great apprehension, that Nikki is in serious danger but that in any case after a long convalescence she will be able to get back in shape. Greg thus informs Nikki, in one of his rare moments of lucidity, that he has forgiven her and confirms all his love for her. He then decides to get in touch with the police to investigate Vincent and Rose and finally do justice. It didn't take long for the police to believe Greg and to discover the real activity of Vincent and Rose, who soon end up back in jail. Justice seems done and a beaming Greg informs Nikki, who is slowly recovering, that he has made things right. However, Vincent and Rose, before returning to prison, wanted to ensure their personal revenge by hiring a killer to kill Greg. A few weeks later, so while walking with his mother Liz, Greg is attacked by a hooded armed ranger who starts shooting.
