Phillip does not fail to show Katherine the pride for the commitment she is demonstrating in her attempt to change her life. However, the man deep inside is increasingly conflicted because of the feelings towards Jill, which he can no longer hide. Phillip thus confesses to the young woman that he is confused about his feelings and the two of them secretly exchange many passionate kisses. When Brock sees the two of them, Jill tries to explain the situation to him, but the boy is very confused and intimates the two of them to stop immediately and not to continue with this, since Katherine is facing an already difficult path and would not be able to go on with her personal battle with alcohol. And so, although Jill understands the situation perfectly, Phillip now completely taken by the naive and beautiful girl can no longer hold back his love. Jill, too, even though she can't admit it, is becoming more and more attached to the man. So inevitably, Katherine ends up discovering their secret relationship; even if she doesn't say anything, he understands that his wife has found out everything and when Katherine, apparently calm, asks him for explanations, the man does not show any regrets in feeling sincere love for Jill. Katherine understands that she has only received in return what she has been carrying on with her betrayals for years, but although her past faults, she can't help but feel so much pain in realizing that her husband doesn't love her anymore, that the pain itself throws her back into the alcohol tunnel.
