A marriage born because interest and in order to hide a genuine love, obviously, could not work. It is of course the case of Jill and Brock for whom, despite the ceremony, the marriage could certainly not be considered as genuine. Jill, still strongly in love with Phillip, did not have the strength to consummate the marriage with Brock, who was obviously disappointed by it but well aware of the situation. Katherine insisted with her son that he should not lose heart and persuade Jill to give herself, but all attempts were in vain, even though it was Jill herself who did not arouse any suspicion, so as not to give Phillip new hope and ruin all her sacrifices. Fate, however, had decided to move in a different direction. With great astonishment, in fact, Jill soon realized that she was pregnant with Phillip; at the news, Brock himself immediately understood who was the baby's father, since he had not had the opportunity to make love to the woman. Despite Katherine's desperate attempt to convince the boy to continue in his marriage and raise Phillip and Jill's baby despite everything, in the end it is Brock himself who gives up and leaves Jill free to divorce. Since the marriage was not consummated, moreover, it is Brock himself who offers the girl the opportunity to annul the marriage, having the opportunity and the right to do so. To these words, all the efforts that Jill had made so far lost meaning, and delighted to finally be able to express her true feelings, runs to Phillip who does not believe Jill's words about the dissolution of her marriage with Brock and the paternity of the child. The two of them, having found themselves united in spite of everything, thus declare themselves eternal love.
