Meanwhile, Stuart is recovering from his heart attack and his recovery is proceeding very well. However, the man could not help but notice the distance of his wife, Jennifer, who despite all her assistance expresses no love for him. The man, then, decides to deal with the situation with the woman, who at this point explodes and declares to her husband that she intended to divorce him so she could finally be with Bruce just before he had his heart attack. Both Chris and Leslie are disappointed by their mother's declarations, worried that their father might suffer and be affected by a new heart attack, although Lorie this time supports her mother's decision. Jennifer declares that she is no longer willing to hide her feelings and that she's determined to put her own feelings before the needs of others; and when Stuart informs her that she is free to leave if that is what she wants, Jennifer decides to finally fulfill her desire to join an enthusiastic Bruce in Chicago, who in the meantime had made his separation with Regina official. The news of the imminent divorce between Bruce and his wife certainly doesn't make Mark happy. He finds comfort in Lorie, disappointed by the same situation in his family. The two realize that both their families have been destroyed by the love of their parents, or rather by Lorie's mother and Mark's father. Connected by this singular situation, Lorie and Mark become very close friends and start dating.
