It's not long before Lauren's suspicions and Farren's intuitions prove accurate. Noting in fact Farren quite strange, Andy asks him what's wrong. Despite initial reassurances from Farren, Andy senses that there's something Farren has to tell him and in the end the woman decides to open up completely to him. Farren thus confesses to Andy that she doesn't remember anything from his previous life before a year ago. In fact, the woman can't remember what her real name is, where she comes from or whatever happened to her before she woke up more than a year ago from a hospital bed after a car accident. Andy is completely stunned and shocked by Farren's words, but he promises the woman that he and Paul will investigate her past. Farren explains to Andy how the doctors kept her in a coma for a while before waking her up and realising that her brain has suffered severe memory loss. Andy, convinced by Lauren, decides to take Farren to a doctor specialized in psychology and brain damage, Dr. Mark Sloan, who advises Farren to look only at the future and the present, without worrying too much about her past. Farren, thus, assures Andy that in the end she doesn't care about her past by being happy with him, which is all she wants. Andy embraces his woman and promises that he will take care of her and make her feel safe. Andy then tells Paul the whole thing, while Lauren realizes that Tamra was actually right. Convinced that Farren's past could really hurt Andy, Lauren is even more convinced to follow Tamra's advice and promises to herself that she will succeed in separating Andy and Farren, even though Paul doesn't agree with his girlfriend at all, believing that Farren has the right to be happy too. Lauren thus decides to bring back to Genoa City Andy's greatest love, the beautiful Diane Jenkins, who is willing to try to win Andy back, since she bitterly regrets having asked for a divorce from Andy to pursue the illusion of being with Jack. When Paul explains to Farren that Diane is Andy's ex-wife, she doesn't hide her jealousy, also because Andy is immediately very sympathetic to Diane, which annoys Farren. When Diane informs Andy that she hopes that there may be a second chance between the two of them, without obviously revealing that she was convinced to take this step by Lauren, Andy initially seems undecided what to do, but soon rejects the woman's attempts at courtship, confirming his love for Farren. However, Andy greets Diane with a kiss goodbye accidentally noticed by Farren, who is furious even though she eventually forgives the man. Lauren, thus, is forced to accept the failure of Diane's attempt, while not giving up insisting on finding out the truth about Farren's identity.

1986 (#17) - Lauren's abortion, Paul's return with Paul and Tamra's warning
Lauren's return from San Franciso finally marks the end of a nightmare. Shawn's ghost is in fact just a bad memory; and although it will never be possible to forget the events of the last few months, there is in her an awareness that she has the opportunity to move on. But Lauren is left with the pain of losing her son, Paul's son. Lauren, now disillusioned that she could win the man back, decides to inform him of the truth, that she was expecting a son from him and that, unfortunately, she lost him because of Shawn. Contrary to Lauren's expectations, Paul is very sympathetic and sorry, admitting that he still has strong feelings for the woman. Lauren and Paul, therefore, decide to get back together and be engaged; this time, it is also Mary and Carl who welcome the woman into the family, showing that they have now overcome the old misunderstandings and initial frictions that saw them opposed to the relationship. Mary herself agrees with Lauren's choice not to speed things up too much with Paul and to see how the relationship evolves before possibly talking about a new marriage. Meanwhile, Lauren decides to visit her dear friend Tamra, who has now overcome her problems. Both women say they're lucky to have survived Shawn's murderous rage, after which Tamra, in one of her psychic sessions, reveals to Lauren that she doesn't trust Farren and that she's sure there's something dark about her past behind her. Warned by Tamra, Lauren asks Paul about the couple, but he reassures Lauren that Andy and Farren are really happy together. In fact, after the latest misadventure of Andy, who has now fully recovered from his injury, the man can finally enjoy happy and intense moments together with his girlfriend, despite Lauren promises to investigate thoroughly to find out what Farren is hiding.

1986 (#13) - The shooting and killing of Turk and Shawn and the rescue of Lauren
Upon arrival in San Francisco, Paul, Andy and Jazz immediately set out on the trail of Lauren and Shawn. Helped by the police, who spot the two fugitives, Paul and Andy intercept the man, starting a furious shootout. The dramatic climax is only when the police arrive, helping Paul get the better of Shawn. Turk, mortally wounded, dies on the road, while Shawn, shot dead, dies on his way to the hospital carried by the ambulance. Before dying, a brazen Shawn reveals to a desperate Paul, who asks him to tell him where Lauren is, that the woman has only three hours to live. Jazz, Paul and Andy are desperate, not knowing where the woman is; it is only thanks to the help of psychic Tamra, to whom a desperate and hopeless Paul entrusts all his prayers, to reveal by phone where to find the woman. Paul thus arrives at the San Francisco cemetery where, next to Shawn's mother's grave, there is Lauren's grave. Paul understands that Shawn has buried Lauren alive and begins to dig furiously along with Jazz and Andy who do so in time to dig up the woman. All four of them, now exhausted, are happy to finally put this whole thing behind them.

1986 (#11) - Tamra's recovery, Shawn's insane plan and Turk's redemption
In Genoa City, meanwhile, Dr. Steve Walters is happily surprised to discover that Tamra has finally come out of her coma; evidently, the treatments are working. Upon awakening, the woman's first words are "Lauren" and "danger"; words that prompted Steve to warn Lauren's ex-husband, Paul. They, meanwhile, at the urging of Neil and Joanna, who are not resigned to the idea that Lauren may have abandoned her marriage and family of her own free will, discover things that are not honorable about Shawn and convince themselves to go and find out for themselves what's going on; with him, the inevitable Jazz and a fit Andy, who is convinced of Shawn's hand in her wound. The three of them fly to San Francisco, coordinated by Lieutenant Phil Parker, determined to bring Lauren home. In San Francisco, meanwhile, Lauren is struggling with Shawn's fury and madness, determined to end the woman's life just like he did with hs mother in the past. Lauren finds herself tied up in Shawn's country house, which he has sprinkled with gasoline; however, when Shawn orders his trusty Turk to set the fire, he refuses to commit such a cruel murder and rebels against Shawn, putting him on the run and saving Lauren. Brought to safety by Turk, Lauren soon realizes that Shawn's homicidal mania has certainly not subsided and that he is in pursuit of them; frightened, Turk, while reassuring Lauren that he will do everything possible to save her, asks Shawn for forgiveness for disobeying him and finally manages to convince Shawn not to kill him.

1986 (#6) - Lauren's fears, her divorce from Paul and Tamra's induced coma
Andy's injury scared the hell out of Lauren, who strongly suspects that it was all Shawn's work, finding Andy, at that very moment, in the man's company. The certainties for Lauren come after meeting Tamra, who confesses seeing in Shawn a violent and very dangerous nature, all due to the man's turbulent past and his difficult childhood. Shawn, listening to part of the conversation between Tamra and Lauren, he hears Lauren admit to being afraid of him and hating him to death, with Tamra warning her of what Shawn may be capable of, strongly advising her to get away from him. Not at all happy to hear the words of the two women, Shawn decides that it's time to take action again, this time to get rid of even an uncomfortable person like Tamra: so he begins to poison her unwittingly with a powerful drug in massive and very dangerous doses. Lauren, meanwhile, seeing no other way out, sends Paul the divorce papers, which Paul doesn't take long to sign and return to sender. Lauren, faced with the divorce, cries bitter tears, not even having been able to confess to her now ex-husband that she is expecting a child from him. Meanwhile Andy, hospitalized, receives a visit from Shawn, who hopefully finds Paul himself praying with Farren for Andy's life. Shawn asks about Andy's condition, but Paul immediately answers with a punch. Shawn does not react, but Paul continues to yell at him, blocked only by the arrival of the nurses, so enough to Shawn, who, happy, learns that Lauren has not lied to him when she swore to him that she has now officially divorced the man. Shawn, thus, is pleased to see his plan realized, which soon adds up to a new result, when Lauren learns that Tamra has been hospitalized for poisoning and is now in a pharmacological coma.

1985 (#18) - The flirt between Gina and Neil, Joanna's hopes and psychic Tamra
The reconciliation between Joanna and Lauren finds their common disapproval of her father's love life, Neil, as a glue. Lauren, in fact, has never hidden her hope of reconciliation between her parents, and Joanna herself makes it clear that she would not mind reuniting the whole family. Neil, however, won't listen to reason, let alone now that he's dating Danny's sister Gina. Lauren, in all these years spent singing in her club with Danny, has learned to know the woman well, and needless to say, he doesn't trust her at all; even though he knows that Danny is a good guy, he can't say the same about his sister, of whom he doesn't know anything and he suspects she may be hiding a dark past. Shawn himself is the one who supports this thesis, immediately ready to sneak into Lauren's life and guide her choices, trying to make her understand that they have much more in common than she thinks, just like the desire to break the relationship between Neil and Gina. Danny, fed up with these suspicions, urges Gina to open up to Neil and be honest with him, telling him about her past in prison, then suggests that Gina herself visit her father in prison to inform him of the joyful turn her life was taking. However, Gina is firmly opposed to this, suggesting that the last thing she wants is for Neil to know about his past and his family background. Shawn, meanwhile, goes ahead with his plan first by interviewing Joanna and Neil as a spokesperson for his daughter's fanclub in order to get close to them, and then suggesting that Lauren contact Tamra Logan, a psychic, to learn more about Gina. Tamra confirms to Lauren, we don't know if she paid Shawn to tell this truth to the woman, or not, that Gina is hiding a disgusting secret in her past. Lauren thus warns Neil to be careful with Gina since she doesn't trust the woman; Neil, however, is skeptical and tired of being constantly judged on his personal life. Neil admits, however, that in recent times he's become very close to Joanna, awakening new feelings in him that he hasn't felt in many years; Joanna and Lauren are very happy with these words of Neil's, and especially thank Shawn for the help he offers them, while Paul, put a little aside by Lauren, wonders why the woman seems to neglect him to spend much more time with Shawn than with him.
