Meanwhile, the fateful day of the wedding between Traci and Brad is approaching. Brad, upon his wife's request, confirms his will to marry her and to be the man of her life, thus rejecting any hypothesis of his interest in Ashley, who seems to have resolved her problems and misunderstandings with Victor. The organization of the wedding is officially entrusted to the father of the bride, John; in reality, everything turns into a new competition between Jill and Leanna, who work hard to prepare everything making sure that every little detail is perfect. The two women's goal is obvious: to make themselves look good in front of John in the hope that he will decide to choose her over the other. Both Leanna and Jill hope that they will be the ones to accompany John to the wedding, but, unexpectedly, things become even more complicated when Dina and her son Marc surprise return to town. Traci is overjoyed that the two of them have accepted the invitation, and it soon becomes clear why they have returned, since Dina never leaves John's side. Under the stares of two disappointed Leanne and Jill, in fact, Dina shows up at the wedding reception playing the hostess, introducing herself as the mother of the bride and effectively upstaging both Leanna and Jill. In the end, in front of a large number of guests, the Abbotts celebrate a new chapter in their long and glorious history with the ceremony that marks the beginning of the marriage between Traci and Brad, who swear eternal love for the second time. During the festivities, John later asks Dina about her absence over the past few years, being moved by her account of being seriously ill for almost two years. John seems to be very impressed by Dina's story, which almost manages to make a breach in his heart; less impressed seem to be Jack and Ashley, who, as always, find it hard to believe the woman's justifications, as they are now very suspicious of her. And in fact, this time they are both right, since it's Marc himself who denies his mother, revealing that Dina hasn't been sick at all. Realizing that the woman has only tried to lure him to her, John becomes furious with Dina to the delight of Leanna and Jill, who thus renew their hopes for John's love.

1988 (#6) - Jack's desire for revenge and his Mergeron ambitions with Marc and Nikki
Jack's thoughts at this time are all about his professional situation. Put aside at Jabot since Brad's arrival, Jack considers the man, together with Jill, the cause of all his misadventures. Jack suffers greatly from the fact that John sees Brad as a good-for-nothing. Determined to get a rematch, Jack decides to prove his worth to everyone and, at the same time, put Brad and Jill's Jabot lines in crisis. Jack thus begins to plot against his own company, from which he resigns. He then starts to devise a plan to buy Mergeron, transforming it into a cosmetics company able to compete and take down Jabot; but to do so he realizes he needs Nikki's help. Since she doesn't seem to have the intention of going back to him, Jack is convinced that he needs a man who can make the woman forget Victor: so he decides to contact Marc, who is also interested in getting his company back, and convinces him to be interested in the woman. Disappointed by the fact that, despite Ashley's marriage, Victor still has no interest in her, she begins to fall for Marc's romantic advances, which convinces her to give up the majority of the Mergeron. Obviously, however, none of them have come to terms with Victor, who once again confirms himself as an ace in business. Suspecting that Nikki and Marc are plotting something, even if he cannot figure out who is really behind them, Victor lets Nikki believe that the shares deposited for Victoria are at Nikki's disposal until she reaches the age of majority. In reality, however, Victor was not so reckless, and provided the woman with false documents, since he is still the repository of the share package destined for Victoria. Convinced that she had the reins of the Mergeron in her hand, Nikki rushed to Marc and Jack to formalize the transfer of ownership; if not, Victor showed up unexpectedly and informed everyone of the situation. Left speechless, Jack vows revenge to Victor, while Marc decides to abandon his dreams of repossessing the company that had been his mother's and return to her in Paris.

1985 (#21) - Marc's shares, the feeling between Ashley and Victor, Nikki's loneliness
After Brent's painful death, which revealed the secret of Ashley's fatherhood, Dina visits Victor to thank him for his valuable contribution and support in finding Ashley. Taking advantage of the fact that her son Marc wants to leave Genoa City and leave the Mergeron property, Dina then decides to sell Marc's shares, equal to 49% of the Mergeron, to Victor as a gratitude; the man gladly accepts, happy to work even closer with Ashley, being Abbott and Mergeron obviously connected and in close relationship. In fact, Victor and Ashley, after the past misadventure, find themselves more united than ever before and begin to nourish mutual feelings. Nikki, after all, feels that her marriage to Victor is not moving forward as she had hoped and that the love between the two is already wearing thin, as is their understanding. Feeling further and further away from Victor, Nikki becomes more and more jealous and annoyed that Victor is neglecting her more and more for work reasons. Ashley, in turn, feels uncomfortable hanging out with a married man like Victor and asks the man to forget about her, despite the fact that the two of them can't stay away from each other.

1984 (#24) - The flirt between Jill and Mar and the Lindsey's pictures with Jack
John and Jill's married life is goes ahead tired. Jill, while still having feelings for John, realizes that she no longer feels attracted to him and for a short time she starts dating Marc Mergeron, with whom she gives vent to all her passion. When Christine hands Jack a large grey envelope, which someone in the Jabot car park asked her to deliver, the man cannot suspect what it contains. At the same time, at John's house, Mamie finds a mysterious identical envelope on the wrought iron fence addressed to Jill. Each of the two envelopes contains the exact same photo. The next day, Jill and Jack receive another photo respectively, as well as the next one until the final one that finally reveals Jack and Jill's faces in explicit photos on their night of passion a few months earlier. It is clear to the two then that someone has photographed them and they are about to be blackmailed. Both upset, Jack and Jill immediately realize they have reason to be very worried. Jack's attempt to attack the man who handed him the last envelope to try to find out who sent the photos was useless. Jill, completely frightened, decides to break off all relations with Marc; moreover, she suspects that the hated enemy Katherine could be behind the whole thing. But when, having decided to confront her, she realizes that Katherine knows nothing about the whole thing, Jill breathes a sigh of relief, while admitting to be wandering in the dark. At the same time, Katherine senses that something is upsetting Jill, and promises to keep her eyes and ears open. A few days later, Jack receives an album of eight photos of him and Jill from the same night, with a note that literally says, "You'll hear from me tomorrow. The next day, John introduces Lindsey Wells to Jack as the daughter of an old friend who has returned to work for them. After the meeting, taking Jack aside, Lindsey presents herself as the one who holds him and Jill in check, having her take pictures of them making love. At this point, Lindsey reminds a confused Jack that they met at a college party and couldn't forgive him after he ruined her life by leaving her just after she asked him to show her his love. Of course, Lindsey doesn't expect Jack to remember her at all, having been that insignificant experience for the boy. Now ,however, Lindsey intends to make him pay for it, expecting,in exchange for her silence, a quick and swift climb into the executive of Jabot.

1984 (#17) - Marc and Ashley's relationship and the discovery of their kinship
Following the annulment of her marriage to Eric, Ashley explains to John everything that happened in her recent past that made her change her mind, from the discovery of the story between Dina and Eric to the trip to Rome, to getting to know Marc. She is therefore convinced that she wants to move on, even though Eric tries in every way to explain things to her as they are and that there is no longer anything between her and Dina. Attempts that are practically useless, since Ashley now has no eyes but for Marc, who immediately makes the acquaintance of the family, and therefore of Jack, Traci, Jill and John. John is amazed at how his daughter has suddenly changed her decision about her love life, but Jill is convinced that the relationship with Dina is obviously a sore point for all her children. Jill doesn't hide her belief in a secret continuation of Eric and Dina's story here in Genoa City, which Ashley may have discovered, but Dina rejects the accusations firmly, suggesting an annoyed Jill is rather interested in her husband John. In the meantime, Ashley organizes a family dinner with Marc; dinner to which John intends to invite Dina too, as it seems right that Ashley should also introduce her mother to her new boyfriend. However, when Marc arrives, the boyfriend and Dina freeze over as soon as the two of them see each other. And the situation becomes even more tense when Ashley introduces Dina to Marc as her mother. Noting both John and Jack that something is wrong, they both try to calm the situation, but it is soon Marc himself who takes the liberty of speaking to clarify a fact that everyone obviously ignores, that he is Marc Mergeron, Dina's son and her deceased husband Marcel Mergeron. The news at first makes Ashley incredulous, who laughs bitterly in tears, then horrified at having let herself go in a relationship with her half-brother. In between, Ashley once again accuses Dina of not letting her live a life of her own, before running away crying. In the end, it is John and Marc himself who reaches out to her and comforts her, making her realize that she may have lost a boyfriend, but that she has found a brother with whom there will always be a special relationship. As time goes by, Ashley manages to put this behind her and move on with her life. The woman then, after a brief flirt with Eric, interrupts the man's new attempt to get back together, saying she no longer wants to deal with men who are somehow related to Dina, since she would risk suffering too much.

1984 (#13) - Roman holidays with Marc and the cancellation of the wedding with Eric
Confused and looking for a place to reflect, Ashley decided to leave Genoa City for a short time and go to Rome. Ashley thus visits the wonders of the eternal city in search of herself and what she wants from life. Forgetting about Eric, Dina and all the stuff of Genoa City, the woman makes the acquaintance of a charming American man, Marc, with whom she begins a brief but intense flirt. Between the two an irresistible harmony and attraction breaks out, which makes Ashely's stay unforgettable. However, at the end of the holiday, Ashley returns to Genoa City having made a clean mind and declaring herself ready to overlook Eric's omissive behavior; although reluctant, Ashley confirms that she wants her mother's presence at the wedding. John is delighted with his daughter's decision not to retrace her steps and is proud of her. However, the woman soon begins to miss Rome and especially Marc, ignoring the fact that the man, in love with the woman, has followed the woman all the way to the city. And so, when Ashley wakes up from a dream in which Marc and Eric fight furiously for her heart, the woman is shocked to find herself in front of her door, Marc. The man reveals to her that he couldn't help but follow her and track her down, having fallen madly in love with her. Ashley, seized with shock, kisses the man impulsively and almost lets herself go into passion, and it's only a phone call from Eric that brings her back to reality. Ashley thus informs Marc of her situation and her imminent marriage; however, the man can only point out to her his doubts about his feelings for Eric, which Ashley herself must admit. The day of the long-awaited wedding comes at last. John, in front of his wife Jill, Jack. Traci and their mother Dina, is ready to walk Ashley down the aisle. However, in front of an excited Eric, the woman does not show up. Only after many minutes of waiting, Ashley arrives at the church and, wearing a white dress, announces to everyone that she cannot enter into a marriage in which she does not believe, leaving everyone embarrassed and incredulous.
