1992 (#28) - The plot against Danny, Michael's blackmail and Rebecca's murder

Not at all demoralized by the dismissal, and ready to do anything to get revenge on Christine and get his job back, Michael decides to create a new facade of honorability and professionalism, with the sole purpose of making himself believe that he has changed and repented of his actions and try to convince Christine not to file the complaint. Michael then starts working in a new and important law firm, this time focusing more on family cases that, in Michael's intentions, should have made Christine think that the man had really changed. The woman, however, is more and more firm in her intentions to denounce the man and immediately rushes to deposit the evidence collected in the registry of the disciplinary committee of legal professionals. When the Committee notifies both Christine and Michael that it has agreed to take on the case and therefore open a file to examine and investigate Michael, the latter is determined not to go down without a fight. Michael then begins to write defensive briefs accusing Christine of having set up a plot to fire him from his job and thus take his place in the law firm. In addition, Michael contacts a woman named Rebecca Phillips, his client in a previous case, to get Danny drugged and spend a night with him, with the obvious goal of showing everyone that Christine's marriage is not as happy as she always wanted everyone to believe, so as to justify the genuineness of her advances. And so, when Rebecca manages to casually meet Danny with the excuse of an autograph, she spikes his tea with a powerful drug and manages to keep him in his hotel room to take some compromising pictures. Michael is more and more convinced that he will be able to convince the court of his motives, but soon he is blackmailed by Rebecca, who, regretting what she did, threatens Michael to destroy the evidence collected if he doesn't want her to testify against him at the trial proving the fact that Michael hired her to drug Danny. Not at all intimidated by the woman, however, Michael refuses to accept any of Rebecca's proposals. The woman realizes too late the danger of Michael, who, determined not to jeopardize his defensive strategy, strangles the woman. Despite the discovery of Rebecca's body, no one, including Detective Bob Adams who personally investigates the case, will ever be able to connect the woman's murder with Michael.
