Jack, who rushes to Victor's bedside as well as Nikki and Ashley, is terrified that something bad will happen to Victor. He fears that Victor will blame him for the lack of help and ruin his marriage to Nikki, who is obsessed with the idea that Jack might be involved in Victor's breakdown. Brad, meanwhile, suggests that Jack tell the whole truth before it's too late. And Jack, for once, heeds the advice of others. Nikki is so shocked to learn the whole truth, and thus about Jack and Brad's plot and Victor's collapse. Her husband explains to Nikki the real motivation behind this: the fear, almost the knowledge, that she loves Victor and not him. Jack, thus, decides to give back his faith to Nikki asking her definitively who she wants to be with for the rest of her life, not wanting to be with a woman not even able to profess her love for her husband. Victor meanwhile gets progressively better, to everyone's delight. Being confronted with the real risk of dying, however, has led Victor to reflect on his life and to become aware that in a moment everything can end; and for this reason one must at all times be true to oneself, never denying what one really wants. And he, he says, has established that his future is with Nikki, not Ashley. Nikki, then, finally has the opportunity to come out of the closet and start dating Brad, who has now ended his marriage to Ashley, while he sets the divorce proceedings in motion. And so, when the documents formalizing the end of his marriage to Ashley arrive in Victor's hands, he has no hesitation in signing them, happy to be able to pursue his destiny. Victor is once again a free man, to the bittersweet joy of Jack, who is on the one hand satisfied to know that Ashley is far from him and on the other hand worried about the stability of his union with Nikki.
