1991 (#28) - Dylan's death from meningitis and Lauren's heartbreaking grief

Immediately taken to the hospital, the doctors inform Sheila that her mother is not in life-threatening danger, but is in danger of suffering serious brain damage. Scott, deeply affected by the episode, spends a lot of time in the hospital next to Molly and Sheila, who is inside happy for the fact that her secret is safe. Molly, in fact, finds herself unable to move and especially unable to speak, despite being perfectly alert and not having suffered any memory loss. In order to get rid of her mother for good, Sheila locks her up in a rehabilitation institute and tries to keep her away from Lauren in every way possible. Lauren, meanwhile, is devastated when Dylan falls seriously ill and is taken to the hospital. The diagnosis, unfortunately, is merciless, since the child, suffering from a very high flu, is struck by fulminating meningitis. Lauren asks Scott to take care of her son, begging him to heal him, but although the doctor does everything possible, little Dylan dies. At the same time Scott, having doubts, comes to know that Dylan was not his child, but he keeps the thing anyway hidden from Lauren, believing that actually the baby is Paul's and that the woman already knows it. In any case, after Dylan's death, Lauren isolates herself and both Scott and Paul unsuccessfully try to get her to come around. Sheila shows herself to be very sorry about Dylan's death, though she fears within herself that this episode will bring Scott and Lauiren closer together again. And in fact, unbeknownst to Sheila, Scott brings little Scotty to Lauren's to restore her vitality and the experiment works. Lauren, unaware that what she's holding in her arms is actually her son, shows great affinity and understanding with the little one, which moves Scott, who for a few moments sees with his own eyes the life he had dreamed of having with Lauren. Lauren, however, is convinced that she has to cut ties with Scott in order not to suffer further and seeks shelter in Paul; and, convinced that only a new baby can bring back her smile, she seduces the man to try to conceive again. However, although Lauren does not lose heart, all her attempts seem useless.
