1991 (#27) - The merger with Newman Enterprises and Jack and Victor's agreement
On the corporate front, meanwhile, Brad's inheritance of Cassandra's assets, including Ra-Tech, opens up new avenues of negotiation with the true ruler of the business scene in town, Victor. Determined that he would rather monetize the company than continue in the dual role of owner and business manager, Brad convinces Victor to merge their companies, Ra-Tech and Newman Enterprises, to become partners in a huge corporate group. Brad, in exchange for losing the majority stake in the new company, tells Victor to settle for a good financial exit in his role as general manager of Newman Enterprise, a position from which he says he is ready to resign. In the end, Victor accepts Brad's proposal, a very attractive one since, with a relative economic sacrifice, he has secured the majority stake in a veritable economic empire. Moreover, with Brad's resignation, Victor has the opportunity to choose the new CEO of this empire and the choice, also due to Ashley's pressure, finally falls on the man who had already replaced Brad at Jabot, i.e. Jack. The new commitment, much more burdensome, does not seem to enthuse Jack, who decides to accept the job on one condition, that is to return Jabot to his family, the Abbotts, after Victor's death. In the end, the deal is struck, and John congratulates his son for securing the return of the Jabot into the family's hands, despite Ashley's insistence that Victor, being married to her, is now part of the family.
