John is not at all happy to learn that Ashley has married Victor and, enraged, confronts him; the latter, however, reassures him by telling him that he loves Ashley and promising that he will never hurt her. As for Brad, he is shocked to learn that the woman he was about to marry has suddenly decided to leave him and join in marriage with another man; but in the end, putting aside his disappointment and anger, Brad realizes that Ashley's decision was also made with Traci in mind and the woman's desire not to continue hurting her. And so, the only one who can't stand the idea of Ashley marrying Victor is Jack himself, who accuses Victor of wanting to insinuate himself into his family at all costs, having stolen his business not being enough. Jack's concerns, of course, are all about Nikki's feelings, since he fears that Victor's proximity and his continued presence in the family will keep her feelings for him alive. And Nikki, in fact, is very indecisive about her relationship with Jack, given her overwhelming desire to make things work with Victor; Nikki herself, however, aware that she is carrying Jack's child, convinces herself to remain faithful to him, happy at the idea of having to give the man the wonderful news that he is going to be a father. But Nikki cannot imagine the sad event that destiny is about to reserve for him. While practicing her passion, and therefore riding a horse, Nikki takes a terrible fall. Hospitalized, Nikki is in despair when Dr. Alan Noah informs her that she has lost the baby. But the news literally drives Jack crazy with pain who, stunned, learns only at this sad juncture of the pregnancy.
