Chase's presence at Jabot has never pleased Jack, who does not appreciate it and considers him a slacker. After all, Chase has no corporate experience and was only included in the organization by Jill as a reward in their agreement to seduce Nina. The relationship between Jack and Chase, which is always a very agitated one as it confronts two very ambitious, proud and self-confident characters, deteriorates irreparably when Chase, who has now forgotten his hopes of entering into a relationship with both Christine and Nina, starts dating Lauren. Jack is strongly opposed to the relationship, since Lauren's Fenmore Warehouses is a major client of Jabot and does not want their business relationship to be jeopardized by the love affairs of a company employee. The tough confrontation between Jack and Chase leads to the dismissal of the latter, whose flirting with Lauren, which never took off definitively, soon breaks down. Lauren herself finds it hard to forget Brad, who she evidently still loves. It is in a sad evening spent among the memories that Scott and Lauren, united by their respective unfortunate sentimental events, meet. The two show great feeling and joy in being together. Scott and Lauren decide to open up to each other by telling each other about their lives, their hopes and their plans, liking each other immediately. However, they both seem to want to wait and dry their recent wounds, preferring to remain good friends. And when Lauren offers Scott a position within the company, part-time, of course, so that he can continue to be a doctor, the man gladly accepts, happy to always have the support of a strong, confident woman like Lauren.
