Jill's revelations about the identity of her lover make John thoughtful. Recalling the early days when he met Jill and the trip he canceled because of a kiss with Jack, John's doubts that the two of them, always in close contact in their work at Jabot, may have really betrayed him. John refuses to believe that his son was capable of such a gesture, but when Jill informs him that she has scheduled a press conference the very day after the trial, John realizes that he is being blackmailed: if he had shown the photos in court, Jill would have revealed to the world the following day that she had betrayed John with his son. John asks for time, but Jill seems adamant. On the day of the press conference, all the reporters are excited and intrigued about the statements Jill has to make, and one film producer, Ron Mc Fall, even offers Jill a film about her life. In the end, however, Jill agrees to postpone the hearing by two days, moving the press conference ahead of the hearing before the judge. Meanwhile, John informs Katherine of what Jill and initially the woman told him, for the good she feels about John. She absolutely denies that the man in the photos is her son Jack. John, however, notices a certain upset of Katherine, from which he eventually manages to get the name of the author of the photos out: Lindsey. Contacted by John, Lindsey also shows herself to be rather vague, however, increasing John's suspicions even more, who realizes, watching Jack's naked body while he sleeps, that his wife has betrayed him. Completely shocked, disappointed and embittered, John tries to contact Jill and fails to do so; however, the woman, now convinced to reveal the truth about her lover to everyone, is joined during the press conference by John, who interrupts the interview just before Jill can reveal the truth and the spicy details about her divorce. John admits that the woman is right and thus asks not to reveal this embarrassing truth to anyone, which would hurt him too much; John then announces that he will accept any request from Jill, humbly admitting defeat before the woman's satisfied eyes. The following day, at the first divorce hearing, Katherine is stopped by John just before going to testify, with the man who explains to her that he wants to save the face of his family and to prevent Jill from revealing the truth to everyone; then it is Lindsey's turn, who testifies in John's favor without mentioning anything about the photos and about a betrayal of Jill, who observes the scene satisfied. At the end of her deposition, Lindsey is thanked by John, informed by the woman of her wish to leave Genoa City to go to New York.
