1980 (#24) - Victor’s unhappy marriage, the deep relationship between Julia and Brock

Arrived in Genoa City for an important assignment at the head of the prestigious Chancellor Industries, Victor is an established and envied successful man who seems to have everything in life: money, power and beauty. Victor in business is a cynical and ruthless person, but he is also gentle and calm. He has great self-confidence, which comes from great willpower and determination in everything he does. Victor is a lover of power and money and, like any successful person, also of women. He has been married for almost three years to a beautiful young woman named Julia Newman, a girl he has known since adolescence and with whom he moves to a luxurious ranch in the suburbs of Genoa City. However, Victor's wonderful life is not regarded in the same way by Julia. Forced to live in a big house yet out of all human contact, Julia spends her days in the company of her faithful butler Charles Martin and the incredible boredom and emptiness she has felt for some years now. Victor is a very jealous and protective man, which is why he never lets her go out alone or practice any hobbies; on the contrary, Victor is always out on business, in his beloved clubs and always returns late at night, probably after spending the night in some nightclub or with some prostitute. The sad life of Julia, not at all happy to have left Buffalo where at least she had her friends, for Genoa City, however, takes a completely unexpected turn with the knowledge of Katherine's son, Victor's great friend, Brock. That man of gentle and calm manners pleasantly surprised the woman, who more and more often receives a visit from the man who, unlike Victor, does not treat her as an object and makes her finally feel alive. The two of them spend entire afternoons together talking about their lives and experiences. Thus, from a simple friendship, a feeling of pure and noble love soon develops between them, but never tainted by mere physical attraction or effusions; and this is also due to Julia's fear of being caught by Victor.
