1974 (#19) - Lorie’s investigations, past of Brad and the night of passion with Barbara
Lorie, meanwhile, does not give up with Brad, she is now obsessed with him and begins to dig into the past of the man. Lorie thus discovers that Brad was a well-known neurosurgeon and psychiatrist from Chicago, famous for violating hospital rules by operating on his son Michael, who died during the operation. Brad, completely devastated and distressed, had thus decided to leave Chicago forever, leaving behind the city, his profession, his family and his girlfriend Barbara Anderson. Once his car was found destroyed and burned with a body inside, now unrecognizable, he was declared dead. As soon as the truth was discovered, Lorie decided to go public with the truth about Brad, so that Stuart immediately fired him. Brad's own admission about all of Lorie's revelations, however, astounded everyone, starting with Stuart himself and Brad feels obliged to ask for forgiveness from what he considers his new family, for never saying anything about his past. Leslie, however, shows that she is not disappointed in Brad, and is indeed very impressed by the past of the man she loves and decides she wants to dig deep into the matter and get a chance to know his old life. Leslie thus knows Barbara Anderson and Brad's old colleagues, all delighted to know that the man is alive. They all try to convince Brad that he did everything he could for his son Michael and that he was not to blame for his death, which was in no way his fault. Leslie, moved by the story, decides to organize a reconciliation between Brad and his parents. Lorie's plan, to cause a break up between Barbara and Brad, fails when Barbara herself assures Leslie that she is no longer interested in Brad and that she has moved on with her life. However, the meeting between Brad and Barbara is fulminating for both of them and the two, who haven't seen each other for years, end up making love before promising to keep their moment of passion hidden and never see each other again.
