1974 (#16) - The miscarriage of Chris and the separation from Snapper

The fragile balance that keeps alive the marriage between Chris and Snapper is broken when a doctor, unaware of the repercussion of his statements, tells Chris that the baby wasn't premature and that he was was born in the right term. Chris' suspicions about the questionable paternity of Sally's child, which until then had been contradicted by Sally's reassurances and Snapper's words, which kept repeating to her that Chuckie was Pierre's son born prematurely, suddenly became reality. At the time of conception, in fact, Pierre and Sally were not married yet, but instead, Stuart had just confessed to him about Snapper's betrayals with Sally. Desperate, Chris realizes that Snapper is Chuckie's father. When a heartbroken Snapper, forced, confesses the truth, Chris accuses herself, saying she doesn't believe that she was naive enough to believe Snapper's words. In a moment of crisis, she falls to the ground, causing the death of the child she is carrying in her womb. Snapper, incredulous and shocked by what happened, tries in vain to console her in the hospital, trying to reassure her by telling her that they would have other children. Chris is inconsolable and, still angry with Snapper, tells him that she would not return home with him, having many doubts about their marriage. Although Snapper begs his wife not to end their relationship, Chris asks him for a period of separation, needing to find herself again and take a new path, leaving the last tragic events behind. Chris turns to Greg to ask him to join him and work in the Legal Aid Department, Legal Aid. convinced that the only way to find peace of mind is to do good and work with people who need help.
