1974 (#13) - Sally’s attempted suicide, the closeness of Snapper and the birth of Chuck
Sally, meanwhile, now completely depressed after Pierre's death, tries to commit suicide, but immediate help manages to save her life. As soon as he is informed of what happened, Snapper rushes to the hospital to see Sally, showing her all his concern and fearing that the child may have suffered injuries as a result of the situation. The woman is happy to know that Snapper cares about her and he confesses that he thinks about her and the baby more than she could imagine. Over the next few weeks, as the relationship between the increasingly jealous Chris and Snapper fades away, the man spends much of his time in the hospital with Sally, who is recovering physically in the meantime. At the hospital, Sally also has a visit from Frank, who is freshly married to Jane, who lifts her spirits and encourages her to hang out with Snapper. According to Frank, in fact, love is the only solution to find a smile, as it happened to him with Jane after the difficult moments he had to face after Susan's death. Frank also thinks that the baby she's expecting is a sign from God to encourage her to move on. Meanwhile, Snapper manages to convince Sally to stay in town and abandon her idea of running away from Genoa City, as he wants to attend the birth of his son and be present in the baby's life. This closeness between Sally and Snapper made Chris quite suspicious, but soon the same woman began to feel a certain sympathy for Sally, forced to raise a child on her own. Chris, in fact, also expecting a child, understands how hard it is for Sally to think about the future without a partner by her side. So Chris, completely unaware of the situation, even encourages Snapper to spend time with Sally and her baby, convinced that this would not put in danger in any way their union. The time of childbirth is getting closer and closer and after a few days little Pierre Charles Roulland is born, in memory of her late husband Pierre, for the happiness of Sally and Snapper himself, proud to be a father for the first time. The little one, nicknamed Chuckie, moves Chris herself, who is comforted by Snapper about his love despite feeling guilty about having to lie to her.
