1974 (#11) - Lorie’s manipulations, the flirting with Brad and Leslie’s breakdown
When Leslie doesn't get a reply to her love letter to Brad, written in Detroit, inviting him to one of her concerts, she is very disappointed. Actually, the letter was intercepted and destroyed by Lorie, who in the meantime is trying to comfort a heartbroken Brad, who never stops wondering why Leslie doesn't call or write him. Convinced, even with Lorie's complicity, that Leslie doesn't need him any longer, and that, absorbed in her career as a pianist, she has decided to move on with his life, Brad lets himself being tempted by Leslie and kiss her. Concerned about Brad's constant silence, Leslie calls her man to tell him that she has bought a ticket for him, for her concert in New York, that would had been held the same evening. However, Lorie answers the phone, telling her sister about the man's willingness to move on with his life and that he is no longer interested in her. Lorie hangs up telling Leslie that she and Brad are dating. The news upsets Leslie, who is later completely disoriented and shocked at the mere thought of Lorie and Brad together (imagining the two making love) and remains frozen in front of the piano, only to fall on the floor, on stage, due to a nervous breakdown. Rescued and taken away by maestro Ernesto Fautsch, Leslie, once recovered, decides to interrupt her tour and not to leave for her next concert in Boston, despite her mentor's attempts to dissuade her from the idea and encourage her not to give up.
