The passion between Greg and Gwen, meanwhile, grows stronger and the two decide to get engaged officially. Everyone in the family notices Greg's happiness at the news of his engagement and therefore they can't wait to meet the one who was able to make him smile again. Particularly happy about the situation is Jill, who has always been very close to her brother, happy that things are finally going well for him. Of course Jill has no idea that her brother's girlfriend is Gwen; so when Greg first introduced his girlfriend to the whole family, Jill was shocked. The news isn't over yet, Jill will be even more surprised when Greg announces to everyone that it was Gwen herself who asked him to be her husband, news that makes an unaware Liz enthusiastic, happy for the joy she sees in her son's eyes. Jill, who agrees with her brother Snapper that Greg's future wife cannot be a prostitute, decides to take action; and together, they are determined to put an end to this relationship. Snapper thus warns his brother that his girlfriend is hiding something from him, but Greg refuses to believe him, assuming as always that his brother wants to ruin everything that makes him happy. The meeting between the two brothers is ,as always, explosive and the two end up fighting until Jill intervenes, who begs them to stop. It is Jill then, who tries to convince her brother, in less bitter words. Initially upset, Greg immediately asks the broken Gwen for explanations, who crying, confirms everything and asks him to forgive her. Greg, furious, cancels the wedding, even though he is soon forced to admit to himself that he is still in love with Gwen after all and that he has no intention of interrupting their love affair. Jill's attempt to induce her brother to desist on carrying on their love, is pointless, she tries to remind him that their mother, Liz, would struggle with the idea of having a son married to an escort: both are now strongly convinced that it's too late to go back and change things. In the end, however, Liz, once she realized that her son had no intention of leaving Gwen, gives her blessing to the two, saying that any person capable of making loved ones happy is welcome in the family. Gwen thanks Liz and promises her that she will leave that life for good.
