1982 (#6) - The transplant surgery and Snapper's farewell to Chuckie and Sally
Chuckie's condition, meanwhile, is becoming increasingly critical and the child needs a kidney transplant as soon as possible. At the same time, Snapper, increasingly nervous and worried, returns home to Chris less and less after work, preferring to stay at the hospital next to Sally and little Chuckie. This time Chris is much more sympathetic than in the past, having actually realized the gravity of the situation personally; however, she is determined to somehow put a stop to Sally's attempt to win over Snapper. Knowing that Sally is currently engaged to the brother of Cinthia Harris, Stan Harris, with whom she lives in Michigan, Chris plans to contact and convince him to come to Genoa City to be with his woman and Chuckie. In fact, the man had already packed and about to leave to reunite with his woman, and Chris appears satisfied that his Snapper no longer runs the risk of being involved in a possible relationship with Sally. She, meanwhile, in despair of losing her son, tries to persuade Snapper to reveal his paternity to Chuckie; Snapper, however, despite the fact that he has now built a good relationship with the child, prefers to wait, despite the fact that he is aware that there could be no more time if the operation goes wrong. In Snapper's decision to wait to reveal the truth, Greg's advice was decisive, knowing that such a decision would destroy Chris and further fuel his fears of a reunion between Sally and Snapper. In fact, Greg advised his brother not to lose sight of his priority: Chris and Jennifer, because they are special people that no one would let slip away, not hiding an interest in Chris herself. This allusion annoys Snapper, forced to collect the countless hit by Stuart who admits that he would have preferred Chris to marry Greg. When the situation for Chuckie becomes critical, Snapper decides to donate one of his kidneys to his son, a gesture that receives the admiration of all. To everyone's great joy, fortunately, the transplant goes well and Chuckie recovers. Snapper convinces Sally that it is better not to tell Chuckie the truth about who is his real father and to continue to let him believe that it's Stan, who is happy to be able to raise Chuckie to whom he is now very close. Sally and Stan make the decision to leave Genoa City and return to Michigan to continue their lives. The time comes for a moving farewell between a grieving Snapper, aware that he will never see his son Chuckie again.

1978 (#4) - Snapper's loneliness, the job at the hospital and the encounter with Casey
The events of the previous year regarding Nancy, Ron and Karen's failed adoption attempt, as we know, left deep marks in the marriage life between Chris and Snapper, who as we know started dating Nurse Cynthia. Chris, after all, decided to leave and go away a few months ago to find herself, without staying in touch with the man and in fact separating from her husband. In all this time, Snapper has been focusing on his family, which as we have seen he tries to protect and guide like the family father they no longer have, and on work, on which he focuses all his energies. Despite this, it is clear that Snapper misses his wife and feels very lonely. As he is no longer able to live in his matrimonial home, Snapper decides to move into one of the apartments near his clinic in order to stay closer to work and forget his private life. Not being able to establish with Cynthia the feeling he had with Chris, Snapper decides to break off the relationship, thus starting a new life as a single man, even if he remains formally married. In the meantime, Snapper gets to know and make friends with Casey Reed, a young doctor who works at Snapper's clinic and who is actually his neighbor, as well as Cynthia's rival, despite the fact that she has already been left by Snapper and only after some vain attempts to get back with the man she drops the idea of being with him.

1977 (#22) - Liz's advice and Snapper's dating with Cynthia
Unable to recover from Chris' departure, Snapper, initially disappointed by the woman's behavior, appears determined to seek a divorce. However, it is his mother Liz who dissuaded him from the idea, taking his situation with Bill as an example. Convinced that sooner or later he will return, as her husband did, Liz convinces Snapper to put his thoughts about his marriage aside for a while and devote himself to work in the hospital. Here, meanwhile, she meets Cynthia Harris, a nurse who has long been secretly in love with the charming doctor Snapper. Cynthia's sympathy is very helpful to Snapper, who, thanks to her, finds the smile again; however, Snapper is unprepared to start a new story with the girl, who understands the situation perfectly even if she doesn't give up her dream to be with him. It is precisely the insistence of the girl and her strong character that soon persuades the man, who thus starts dating Cynthia, although without a convinced sentimental commitment.
