1993 (#10) - Neil and Drucilla's wedding, Walter's remorse and the trip to Antigua

Happy to have obtained an unexpected position at Jabot, Neil experiences one of the happiest and most fulfilling moments of his life. In addition to the joy of his professional promotion, Neil strengthens his sentimental bond with Drucilla, so much so that the two find themselves more in love than ever. Having now also an economic security, Neil surprises Drucilla by asking her to become his wife; the girl, enraptured, accepts with great joy and the two are excited to start organizing their wedding. Mamie, Olivia and Nathan also congratulate the newlyweds, but soon, inevitably, the conversation turns to their parents, Walter and, above all, Lillie Belle. Olivia is annoyed when Drucilla says she doesn't want her parents at the wedding, but eventually Olivia manages to convince her sister to invite them. Lillie Belle and Walter are overjoyed at the upcoming wedding, though Lillie Belle's attention is, as always, all on her favorite daughter Olivia and her grandson Nate. At the end of the moving ceremony in which Drucilla and Neil declare their eternal love, it is Drucilla, almost in tears, who asks her mother why, even on her wedding day, the most beautiful day of her life, she seems to want to put her in second place to her sister. It is at this point that, finally, Drucilla learns the truth about the animosity she has always felt coming from her mother. Lillie Belle, in fact, reveals to her daughter that Drucilla was conceived one night when Walter came home drunk and abused her, after she insisted that she did not want to conceive any more children. It is Walter, at this point, who surprisingly takes Drucilla's side, understanding the girl's reasons, stating that in fact the rebellious and repulsive behavior towards their parents was not at all unjustified, admitting that, in fact, at times her mother clearly showed repulsion towards Drucilla and that he, feeling guilty for what he did, never criticized her attitude by taking sides in defense of his daughter. Finally, Walter asks Drucilla's forgiveness for all their faults, assuring her that from that moment on he will try to treat her daughter with the same love he feels for Olivia and assuring her that, even if her conception was not foreseen, he loves her no matter what and has no regrets in having her. Despite this, however, an enraged Drucilla angrily chases her parents away, shouting at them that she considers her only true mother to be her Aunt Mamie, the only one who has always believed in her and never let her lack her support. Walter and Lillie Belle, heartbroken but at least freed from the burden of having to confess the truth to Drucilla, leave Genoa City once again. With the woman visibly needing to forget her family problems for a while, Neil finally decides to give Drucilla a wonderful surprise with an unforgettable trip to the Caribbean, to the island of Antigua to be their honeymoon.
