1991 (#30) - Olivia's wait, the spark between Neil and Drucilla, and the modeling dream

The joy of marriage, for Olivia and Nathan, is destined not to remain isolated since, as soon as they return from their honeymoon, the two enthusiastically inform Mamie, Walter, Lillie Belle and Drucilla that they are expecting a baby. The news makes Olivia's parents proud and they happily embrace her; and, after all, it also makes Drucilla happy who, despite still being in love with Nathan, is happy for her sister and intrigued by the idea of becoming an aunt. Drucilla and Neil, thus, soon find themselves feeling sorry for each other and, for lack of anything else, being in love with a married couple, end up spending a lot of time together. From what started as an acquaintance of convenience, the relationship between Drucilla and Neil, also because of the course of events, soon becomes a deep friendship until it turns, inevitably, into love. Between the two of them the spark ignites in an unexpected way, while both of them play the role of consoling each other for the unfortunate events of love. A deep glance, a kiss, and then the hopes, prospects, dreams and desires of each change radically. After all, the couples formed are completely corresponding: the ex-criminal Nathan with the brilliant doctor Olivia, and the intelligent young man with good hopes Neil with the not-so-good Drucilla, who comes out publicly with her boyfriend for the first time during the masquerade ball where she is dressed in a dress that Neil himself, at Jabot, has sewn for her, the very elegant angel bird. Finding themselves more united than ever, Neil decides to support Drucilla in achieving her dream of becoming a famous dancer; and he even does so in a secret way by asking Mamie to stop paying for Drucilla's dance lessons, since he will be doing it from then on. However, when Drucilla learns from Mamie about Neil's gentlemanly offer, the woman, while thanking Neil for his grand gesture, confesses to the boy that she currently has other plans. Intrigued, Neil asks the woman for explanations and she finally confesses to him that she dreams of becoming a model and hopes that her job at Jabot will somehow help her realize her aspirations. Neil says he regrets that Drucilla has put aside such a sensual and refined art, probably because she is attracted by the money that revolves around the models; however, he promises the woman that he will do everything in his power to try to get Drucilla hired, who happily embraces him and admits to being hopelessly in love with him.
