1991 (#18) - Ryan and Victoria's relationship and Victor's opposition

Determined to distract Victoria from the events of her marriage, Ashley thinks she needs a boyfriend to take her mind off things. However, when Ashley introduces Victoria to the handsome Ryan McNeill, who works at Jabot and is several years older than her, she doesn't seem to have succeeded. However, an attraction soon develops between the two, which fills Ashley with joy as she hopes the girl will stop interfering in her father's marriage. Victoria, given Ryan's older age, does not want Victor to find out about their dating; however, not much time passes since Victor finds out about the relationship, which he is obviously adamantly opposed to considering Victoria still a child. Victoria objects to her father's decision to ban her from dating Ryan, and, in a fit of rage, lashes out saying that after all, it's what his wife always wanted. Ashley, at this point, admits that she introduced Ryan to Victoria, which infuriates Victor. Angry at Victoria's manipulations, and at Victor's stance that apparently puts his wife second to Victoria, Ashley informs her husband that she no longer plans to sleep in the same roof as him. When Victor then turns to Nikki to inform her that Ashley has left home, she urges Victor to clear the air with his wife and bring her home. In the end, everything works out and Ashley returns home, with Victor instructing Victoria to stop seeing Ryan. Between them, a clandestine relationship is born, unstoppable to the point that when Victor organizes a sumptuous party at his ranch Ryan sneaks in as a waiter in order to see the girl. Ryan, that same evening, delivers an engagement ring to Victoria, who promises to wear it always, except in the presence of her father. Then, caught up in passion, the two make love; the first time for Victoria. When Victoria confides to Ashley that she had made love for the first time with Ryan, a concerned Ashley becomes angry at Victoria's irresponsibility and immediately purchases a pregnancy test and an HIV test, later informing her of the risks of doing so without a condom. Ashley's frightened words are further amplified when a lecture is given at Victoria's school about the dangers of unprotected sex; the girl is petrified to hear that a year must pass before she can be sure that she is not infected with HIV. Furious with Ryan, Victoria thus ends her relationship with the man, despite his pleas to give her a second chance and to make peace, since her feelings are sincere.
