Incredulous at the news that his mother may have sold Chancellor Industries, the convulsive events in Genoa City convince Brock, on a humanitarian mission in India, to return to the United States. Here Brock struggles to recognize his mother, who makes more than one gaffe, first and foremost that of not recognizing him, not knowing Marge that Katherine had a son. But more than anything else, Brock finds it hard to believe Katherine's justifications for selling the family business. Completely shocked, Brock finds in Rex a great confidant and friend, both of whom share astonishment over Katherine's change. And despite the common belief that Clint is the real cause of everything, both begin to be suspicious of the woman, pondering that she may have gone crazy. All this, however, does not stop Rex's now mature conviction to divorce the woman. Rex contacts Jill, who works at Aid Legal, to start the divorce proceedings. Jill advises Rex, in spite of the prenuptial agreement signed by the man, not to get out of the marriage without getting anything out of it; so she promises the man to study the case in order to find some loophole that could allow him to get a good part of Katherine's estate before it is obviously too late, given the speed with which Katherine is stripping herself of all her possessions. The continuous acquaintanceships linked to these practices between Rex and Jill, meanwhile, give rise to a deep friendship between the two, which unconsciously pushes Rex to accelerate the practices as much as possible in order to free himself from the marriage bond as soon as possible. The same hurry, meanwhile, seems to have Marge, pushed by Clint to get rid of Rex, perhaps giving him a generous severance package, so as to have a free hand in liquidating as quickly as possible the assets of Katherine. In the end, an agreement is reached on a huge amount of 2 million dollars, a sum that Jill considers absolutely insignificant compared to Katherine's wealth. The fact remains, however, that Marge, obviously in the guise of Katherine, and Rex hurry to Milwaukee to make their divorce official.
