At Abbott's house, meanwhile, a devout John is constantly assisting his wife Jessica, whose health is slowly but surely deteriorating due to AIDS. In the family, however, everyone admires the great love of the two, proud to have such close parents. In particular, Christine is admired by John, who welcomes her into his home as a daughter; and so does Jessica with Ashley, Jack and Traci, not disdaining them, despite her precarious condition, to give continuous and valuable advice. Meanwhile, constantly following the course of Jessica's illness is always Dr. Scott Grainger, now a family member in the Blair home. Between Scott and Christine, who has always admired the man for his gentle manners, his competence and his humanity, a great understanding soon developed, proving to have two very similar characters. This is obviously noticed by an annoyed Danny, who does not appreciate Scott's company and asks Christine to stay away from him. This jealousy, however, only makes Christine nervous, who accuses Danny of being insensitive to his mother's illness and moreover of neglecting both her and Jessica because of the always frequent tours. The relationship between Danny and Christine, therefore, proves, against all expectations, that it is not going well; and Christine is very close to Scott's strong but at the same time affectionate figure. When Danny, returning from a concert, finds Christine and Scott exchanging a kiss, the man goes into a rage. The ensuing discussion marks the end of his story with Christine, who some time later became engaged to Scott.
