Abruptly fired from Jabot, and for the first time misunderstood by John, who had always considered him his protégé, Brad decides to focus exclusively on Traci and on keeping what happened with Lisa hidden. Soon, however, the man begins to feel the need to find a job and, when he gets an important job offer from Chicago, Brad considers moving there with Traci. Just at the moment of accepting, however, Brad realizes that the owner of the company from which the offer comes is none other than Lisa; and without giving Traci any explanation about his real motivation, Brad turns down the offer, reiterating to Lisa to stay out of his life. Despite this, she urges him not to ignore his feelings for her, convinced that if only she had given him a new chance Brad would have been able to love her again, Brad confirms his desire to have nothing more to do with her. Meanwhile, it is Lauren, who has never lost heart and never stopped hoping for a reunion with the man, who offers Brad a chance to work at Fenmore Warehouses. This time, Brad willingly accepts, despite Traci's opposition, not at all happy about the fact that the man spends a lot of time with his bitter enemy, who also had a past with Brad; however, he reassures her that the only thing he needs from Lauren is a job. Not at all discouraged by Brad's refusal, meanwhile, Lisa is more determined than ever to get the man at any cost. So she decides to take it the hard way, hiring some thugs to kidnap Brad and lock him in the basement of her house, which is accessed from the living room. Lisa, with the help of Rich Little, a vocalist capable of interpreting and reproducing any voice, records a tape in which "Brad" explains the reasons why he decided to leave his place at Fenmore and break off his marriage to Traci.
