In addition to Jack's chairmanship, meanwhile, the Abbott family is still the focus of attention this time on the relationship between John and Jill. The two of them, after the separation of the woman from Andy, begin dating assiduously and show in public their relationship, which is becoming increasingly serious and important. Jack is astonished to find at his wedding the woman, with whom he has certainly closed not in good terms, in the company of his father. Jack immediately criticizes his father's decision to get back together with Jill, with which in the meantime John becomes clear about their farewell two years earlier. But if the relationship between John and Jill is strengthened as never before, Jack tries in every way to oppose them. First by revealing to his father that Jill has a child, Phillip Jr., about whom the girl had never spoken; then by threatening to call his mother and John's ex-wife, Dina Mergeron, back to help them get back together. However, Jack's attempts fail firstly because Dina, who had left the family eleven years earlier, categorically refuses to return to the city, and secondly because John willingly accepts the news of Jill's baby, happy to be able to raise Phillip Jr with her and guarantee them financial stability. Jack, then, decides to go on the attack again, proposing to Diane to seduce John in order to make him break up with Jill, but all the woman's attempts are in vain and have the sole effect of uniting the two even more. Then when John and Jill announce they want to get married, Jack tries one last attempt with Katherine. In fact, Jack convinces the woman, Jill's historical rival, to talk to Ashley to help her brother to fight the couple formed by her father and Jill; but even this attempt is in vain, since Ashley doesn't want to interfere with her father's plans and doesn't even want to hear about her brother's plots.
