1977 (#1) - Organ donation, cornea transplantation to David and Liz's stroke

Shortly before he died, Bill had repeatedly expressed his desire to donate organs once he would no longer be there; this desire was also expressed in his biological will. And so, as soon as his father was declared deceased, Snapper immediately works to fulfill this desire, the result of an extreme act of generosity by that father who wanted to make up for the many mistakes he made when he was alive. In this way, even from a tragedy like the one experienced by the Foster family, a message of hope and love is born for all those people who, thanks to Bill's gesture, will be able to go on living. Among the many people who benefit from the transplant, David Mallory is the one who personally tracked down Bill's family to thank for the gift he received. In fact, David, born blind from birth, has acquired sight thanks to Bill's cornea and everyone is touched to see in his eyes their father's eyes. David's presence is fundamental especially for Liz, who is going through a very difficult time not being able to accept that she has lost Bill forever. Depressed by the death of the man she loved for a lifetime, the woman feels responsible for giving in to compassion and turning off the machines that kept the man alive. Overwhelmed with regrets and guilt, Liz decides to tell Snapper the truth and is suddenly seized with a stroke. It is Greg who immediately takes her to the hospital, where the whole Foster family, and David, are once again reunited by grief and fear of losing a loved one. Fortunately, the news coming in is good and Liz is not in danger. However, Snapper, Greg and Jill are shocked when they realize that their mother has suffered brain damage and cannot remember anything about the recent unfortunate events in their family.
