With the beginning of the year there is an interesting new arrival in Genoa City. It is Mark Henderson, Bruce's son and therefore Liz's nephew. Mark is a young but already established doctor who has found a job at Genoa City Hospital and in a letter Bruce writes to Liz hoping she could welcome his son into the family, although between the two, Bruce and Liz, there has never been a good relationship. Liz, happy for Mark's arrival, welcomes him with all her love in the family, showing herself very proud of how his grandson has become an outstanding man. Mark's arrival in town is naturally noticed by Jennifer, who has always been in love with her father Bruce; in one of their meetings, Mark informs Jennifer that Bruce and his mother, Regina, are not having a good time and are now close to end their marriage. The news of course immediately arouses the interest of the woman, convinced more and more to leave Genoa City to reunite in Chicago with her lifelong love Bruce. The relationship between Stuart and Jennifer, in fact, is now increasingly weaker. The woman can't stand her husband's outbursts of anger, and he continually neglects her; Stuart's behaviour, on the other hand, is justified by the fact that the man is aware that his wife's heart is only for Bruce. When Bruce calls Jennifer to inform her that he has divorced Regina, therefore, the spark between the two does not take long to set in, and Jennifer thus promises the man that she will divorce Stuart and join him in Chicago.
