Since Chuckie's birth, Chris and Snapper's marriage had slipped into a deep crisis. Chris had left their home, determined to allow Snapper to get close to Sally to raise their son together and, most of all, willing to take stock of the situation about her life and her true feelings. Snapper had tried in every way to reassure the woman about his love and that nothing could separate them, but it was clear that Chuckie would irreparably affect their union. The one who suffers most from this situation, however, is Sally herself, still grieving over Pierre's death and now resigned to not receiving Snapper's love. Having therefore understood that there is only one way to put everything behind her and make everyone happier, Sally informs a disappointed Snapper that she has decided to leave the city; only then could Sally forget the man and concentrate on raising her son, giving Chris and Snapper the chance to live happily in their marriage. Despite the man's attempts to make Sally give up her decision, she is strongly convinced and leaves Genoa City. Things between Chris and Snapper obviously don't work out immediately; however, as time goes by, Sally's departure helps to reassure a woman who is still in love with Chris about her husband's commitment to making their marriage work, and so she decides to move back in with Snapper to honor their union. Soon, the couple found themselves closer than ever.
