As the months go by, Greg and Nikki's relationship deteriorates further and further. The two, estranged from their completely opposite lifestyles, become strangers and in fact leave their marriage nest more and more empty; Nikki because she's always out late with Paul or her friends, including Edith Mills, with whom she shares insane habits consisting of alcohol and men; Greg because he's getting closer and closer to April and his little Heather. Determined not to leave April and his daughter without a family, Greg soon falls in love with the woman and is convinced to end his marriage to Nikki. The woman, now resigned at the end of her union with the man, realizes she no longer loves him, accepts without too much hesitation to sign the papers. In the end, there is a tender goodbye hug between the two, when Greg expresses his hatred for Paul, capable of abandoning April and her daughter, hoping that Nikki will understand what kind of man he is. Despite Greg's words, however, Nikki seems convinced to go back with the man, the only one who has always been able to make her heart beat. So after the divorce, Greg moves in with April, happy having the man's company. The two of them begin to plan their wedding, but a new sad unexpected event occurs in April's life. Despite the reassurances of the doctors who had reassured April that Heather would not have contracted Paul's venereal virus, in fact, the girl falls ill and two worried Greg and April are forced to hospitalize the girl, where she finds herself fighting for her life.
