1993 (#28) - Lauren's resignation, Scott's hospitalization, and meeting Sheila

After Brad destroyed the negatives of Sheila's photos, things seem to have finally settled down. Sheila has not shown up in Genoa City anymore and is likely continuing her marriage in Los Angeles to Eric. Lauren, on the other hand, has pulled herself out of the whole thing, wanting nothing more than to forget about Sheila. Lauren has thus kept it a secret from Scott that Sheila is not dead, and as far as she's concerned, she's probably convinced herself that she died in that now famous fire. In all these months that have passed, however, Lauren has not been able to find the right serenity with Scott, and has come to the conclusion that the only possible solution is a divorce. Even Scott, who realizes that between the two of them love ended with the first divorce, finally seems resigned to this decision. Scott himself, meanwhile, is admitted to the hospital, where Dr. Hank Steele announces that he is unfortunately suffering from a strong leukemia and that he does not have many days left to live. As soon as she learns of Scott's hospitalization, a desperate Sheila rushes to Genoa City to visit him. The man is shocked to see the woman again and between the two, in a very romantic meeting, it seems that love never ended. Sheila, after Scott's confession about his broken marriage to Lauren, invites him to abandon everything and leave with her, informing him that since she is not dead her marriage should actually still be legally valid. Scott, however, confesses to the woman about his state of health, urging her to continue the life she has created for herself in Los Angeles, wishing her all the luck in the world and saying goodbye through tears.
