Willing to do anything to bring Lauren down and continue her life in Los Angeles without fearing that her past will come back to haunt her, Sheila travels back to Genoa City to settle the matter with Lauren once and for all and, appearing before her, reveals that she is alive and knows about her affair with Brad. Sheila then confesses to a shocked Lauren that it was she who sent her the various pieces of the puzzle with the incriminating photos, also ordering her not to reveal to anyone that she is alive. Sheila blackmails Lauren into informing Scott of her betrayals and losing custody of Scotty if she tells anyone she is alive or, worse, informs Eric of her past. Lauren, under blackmail, is more determined than ever to prevent Sheila from committing any further criminal acts. And when she is invited by her great friend, the fashion designer Eric Forrester, to an important fashion show, Lauren is shocked to learn that Sheila's future husband is him. So Lauren tries hard to inform both Eric and his ex-wife Stephanie Douglas of the truth about Sheila's background. However, Lauren's every attempt is thwarted by Sheila, who cleverly manages to avoid and prevent the truth from coming out by leveraging her blackmail. In the end, Eric and Sheila get married despite Stephanie's growing conviction that the woman is hiding something having noticed that between Sheila and Lauren, who seems to be constantly trying to communicate something to her, there seems to have been some relationship in the past. Lauren, of course, finds herself in the difficult position of not being able to do anything to stop Sheila and decides to vent her frustration on Brad who, tired of being manipulated and blackmailed by Sheila, goes to Los Angeles and manages to obtain and destroy the negatives of the incriminating photos. Lauren then confesses the whole truth to her friend John Silva to ask for legal help in the matter; John, however, advises the woman to be honest with her husband and reveal the whole truth.
