1991 (#32) - Lessons from therapist, Sheila's intervention, and Molly's relocation

Sheila is shocked when, during a visit to Molly, she discovers that she is able to say the word "baby boy" Out of her mind and completely terrified that the truth might come out, Sheila seeks information from nurse and speech therapist Emily Griffith, who explains how her mother is quickly getting better. Unlike what Emily might expect, however, Sheila is less than happy to hear that her mother might soon be talking again, raging at the woman about why she hasn't been informed of the therapies Molly is undergoing. Without delay, then, Sheila signs the papers to get Molly out of the rehab center, deciding to keep Molly under control by bringing her to stay with her and Scott. The latter is happy with Sheila's mother's improvements, although he finds it odd that she was released from the center so soon. Sheila, however, insists that Molly move in with them, citing her desire to be near her as the reason. What Scott doesn't know, however, is that Sheila lies to him about Molly's chances of recovery. Sheila informs Scott that Molly has been discharged because it has been established that she will never be able to speak again, just before the doctors contact Sheila again to ask her permission for her mother to continue to receive lessons from the speech therapist, lessons that Sheila flatly refuses. Locked up in Sheila's house, Molly tries to get her current nurse, Wally Chester, to call Lauren, but she is unable to make herself understood. Lauren, informed by an unsuspecting Scott that Molly often says her name, eventually manages to find out that the woman is at Sheila's and goes to visit her, despite the fact that the woman, who is asleep at the time, cannot tell her anything. Lauren talks to Paul about the condition Molly is in, but Paul is sure the woman is in good hands. Sheila, on the other hand, is furious when she learns that Lauren has been visiting her mother and tells the nurse that Lauren must never be allowed to see her again. When Lauren is refused another visit, she goes to see Scott, who allows her to see Molly again, who tries to talk to her, but to no avail, before the visit is interrupted because the doctors see that she is agitated. When Sheila is informed of this, pretending to be concerned about her mother's health, she becomes furious with Scott for allowing the visit. Sheila, aware that she can no longer control the situation with Molly's presence in Genoa City, and increasingly frightened at the idea that her secret will come out, plans to move her mother to her old farm in Michigan where, according to her, Molly could find the serenity and tranquility she lacks. So Molly is moved to her country home without even Scott being informed in advance. Before being taken away, however, Molly leaves a picture of a baby on the table as a sign for Lauren.
