1990 (#31) - Drucilla's infatuation for Nathan and the conflictual relationship with Olivia
As time goes by, things for Drucilla improve by the day. Nathan's lessons bear fruit and Mamie, proud of her granddaughter, not only gets her the money she needs to sign up for dance auditions, but even convinces John to hire her as a secretary at Jabot Cosmetics. But Drucilla's happiness obviously does not only derive from her new job; in fact, the lessons she takes with Nathan soon lead her to fall in love with the kind and caring man, to the point that she dreams of a future with him. When Nathan informs Drucilla that he has already been engaged for a few months, the girl seems very disappointed; however, she cannot imagine that Nathan is actually engaged to Olivia Barber, his sister. Arriving in Genoa City for a medical internship, Olivia is in fact Drucilla's older sister, who is shocked to discover that she is Nathan's girlfriend. Olivia is thrilled to see her sister safe and sound after all these years; however, Drucilla does not share her happiness at all, since she has always had a deep hatred for her sister. Ever since they were children, in fact, Olivia has always been the most beautiful, the most attractive and the most intelligent of the two, as well as the best in the eyes of their parents, who are convinced that Drucilla could never reach her standards. And so, when Olivia informs her sister that she is living happily with Nathan, confiding in him that the two are already making plans to get married, Drucilla seems to be reliving her childhood once again. But this, the girl has no intention of giving up and passively accepting the situation, wanting to fight with all her might to get the man she loves.
