1981 (#5) - Katherine's admission to Kingston and her return to the city

Katherine's new life in Jamaica with Felipe takes a dramatic turn when Katherine falls ill following a stab wound infection in her leg. Felipe quickly realizes that the infection, if left untreated, could threaten her life, so he makes every effort to take her to the hospital. Despite risking his life and compromising his fate as an illegal refugee in Jamaica, as Felipe is hunted by the police, the man manages to have Katherine admitted to the hospital in Kingston, where she promptly recovers with the appropriate treatment. Katherine's recovery, in addition to the treatment, also depended on her desire to return with Felipe to their shelter and spend the rest of their lives together; however, Katherine's hopes, which she also wanted to take Felipe with her to the United States, were dashed when the woman reads a goodbye note written by the man before leaving. Katherine's bitterness then turned to terror when she learnt of the bombing of Felipe's ship; and shocked by what happened and fearing the man's death, Katherine cancelled her return to Genoa City to search for Felipe who, to her great joy, is still alive. Katherine tries in every way to convince Felipe to leave with her, but the man insists that Katherine must return to her life as he does to his own. Realizing that their paths would part forever, Katherine bid Felipe a heartfelt farewell before returning with a veil of bitterness to Genoa City to continue her life from where it had been interrupted.
