1976 (#14) - Vanessa’s obsessive jealousy and the wedding between Lance and Lorie

Soon, Lorie realizes that Vanessa is not an easy woman to deal with. Very grumpy, since the day of the fire that ruined her face forever Vanessa has become very possessive towards her son, so much so that she becomes more and more jealous of Lance. For Vanessa, in fact, every woman who gets close to her son is seen as a potential threat to fight and to move away from his life. It is natural, at this point, that Lorie is not well seen by the woman, whose aversion to Lorie, so obvious when unreasonable, grows more and more. Lance tries to reassure Lorie, who initially seems to be worried and very much influenced by the woman, but as time goes by she gets used to this situation preferring not to give importance to the woman and focus rather on Lance. In the meantime, he manages to move the woman when he asks her to marry him during a trip. Without any planning or organization, therefore, the two get married following their impulse in the suggestive and romantic setting of Lake Tahoe, declaring their eternal love. At the end of the ceremony, Lorie immediately informs Leslie and her whole family of the wedding, happy to finally see their daughter full of joy but undoubtedly amazed by the woman's sudden decision to get married without her family. Stuart doesn't hide his disapproval of this, showing himself to be worried about Lance, knowing the Prentiss family for job-related reasons and convinced that the man could disappoint his daughter. However, convinced also by Jennifer and Leslie, the man gives his blessing to the wedding in any case. A blessing that of course does not come from Vanessa, who is determined to break up the newly married couple. Lance, thus, finds himself from this moment forced to live under the influence of two very important but very different women, the idealistic and independent Lorie and the possessive Vanessa.
