Although he has been most of his life under the shadow of his older brother, Snapper, Greg Foster manages to fulfill personally when he finishes his law degree. Determined to become independent, Greg is a less strong-willed person than Snapper and characterized by a kinder soul than his brother, but at the same time he lives with the same principles of honor, pride and loyalty taught by their mother. When Snapper misses an important family dinner at Brooks home because, tired and exhausted, he falls asleep in Sally's bed, she freely chooses not to wake him, Greg begs a humiliated and angry Chris to be understanding with him; and it’s always Greg, at the same time, who reassures Chris that his brother is not interested in any other woman, although Stuart has already found out that Snapper satisfies his physical needs with Sally while Chris keeps distance with him. In the meantime, however, when Greg offers help Chris for her high school final exams, the two connect everyday a bit more; Chris opens herself up to Greg, she talks to him about her doubts about the relationship with his brother and confesses that although he loves him, she thinks she couldn’t forgive him one more time. Things fall apart when Stuart confesses to his daughter about Snapper having an affair with Sally, which ultimately leads Chris to break up the relationship with him. So when at the graduation ceremony Snapper confesses to Greg that he broke up with Chris, and by the other hand Chris calls him to congratulate him, Greg becomes aware that he’s in love with her. Greg knows that his brother is still attracted to the girl, so he decides not to confess his infatuation, also persuaded by Liz not to destroy the siblings’ relationship with Snapper. Stuart, meanwhile, after having convinced his daughter to leave Snapper, tries to distract Chris and bring her closer to Greg, asking him to hire her as secretary in Greg’s new law firm and promising him financial help in exchange, as long as he doesn't say anything to Chris. Snapper, increasingly annoyed by the situation and jealous of Chris, argues furiously with his brother, who admits at the end that he is in love with Chris too. Snapper tries to regain the love of the woman, who in the meantime fins out her father's plan and decides to quit her job at the firm. Greg then tries everything and asks Chris to marry him, but she replies that she wants to reconnect with her inner self first. With these words Greg realizes that Chris's heart is devoted to Snapper and he wishes him to be able to make his dreams come true, definitively giving up on her.
